FSU Libraries Special Collections preserves and provides access to primary source and other research materials and research services to students, faculty and scholars. Among the 500,000 items in Special Collections are valuable rare books, manu-scripts, photographs, memorabilia, and maps. Important collections include: Napoleon and the French Revolution; John Shaw Poetry and Children collection; Carothers Rare Bible collection; Florida Collection; University Archives

BUILDING ACCESS &

SECURITY

MISSION

To help ensure a safe environment, anyone entering Strozier Library must comply with the following guidelines:

Current FSU students, staff and faculty

have unlimited access with valid ID.

Current state university/community

college students, staff and faculty may

enter with a valid ID. For inter-institution loan policies, please see

“Borrowing.”

Other visitors may enter the building 7:30 AM-8:00 PM,

Sunday-Thursday; 7:30 AM-6:00 PM on Fridays; and 10:00

AM-6:00 PM on Saturdays. These guests will be issued a

“guest pass” upon signing in with a government-issued

photo I.D. such as a driver’s license, identification card or

passport.

The Security Department does hourly walkthroughs,

provides late-night escorts (limited area) and contacts SAFE

Bus or Night Nole for longer distance late-night assistance.

DISTANCE LEARNING

ACCESS TO MATERIALS:

Online databases: Students have access from their own

computer to a wide span of scholarly material in over 400

databases.

Interlibrary loan: Students can use Interlibrary loan to request

materials not available through the online databases. Visit

http://www.illiad.lib.fsu.edu/FirstTime.html to create an

account.

RESEARCH ASSISTANCE:

Virtual Reference: Help with research is available through Ask

Us Now, FSU Libraries’ online instant messaging service.

Students can add FSU Libraries to their Buddy List using this

ID: fsulibraries. Ask Us Now is available all hours Strozier

Library is open.

Research Guide: “Resources for Distance Learners” provides

basic information on accessing library resources and doing

research. This guide is available at: http://guides.lib.fsu.edu/

distancelearners .
