From tbe Conneaut Reporter : One of tne most distress ire accidents it has ever been our melancholy duty to re cord occurred at rweet't mill in Monroe township at about three o'clock on Satur day last. At tbe time of the accident there were nitre persons employed about mm, two of whom, Mr. Jdgar tlolden and Washington Vancamp were engaged the engine room. As near as we can learn there was nearly one hundred and lorty pounds ot steam in use at tbe time the accident, while eighty pounds was that was required to drive the mill to fullest capacity. From some lack of judgment or want of experience the water the boiler waa allowed to get low and while attempting to replenish it the boiler was caused to explode which resulted in instant death of llolden and Vancamp wnue lour otner persons were seriously injured. I lean Sterling, one of the num- ber, had an arm broken aad. waa other wise badly bruised.; The other three William Holden, John Blackman and Uarley Fairbrothers, -- wen Jess severely hurt. The engine, which was a twenty-hor- se power machine, together with the boiler was shivered to atoms and scattered every direction over an area of at least acres.
