About the Library
The department of Library of Adhi College of Engineering Technology is established in 2008. It
is located in a Library building in a vast area of 9298 sq. ft. The main objective of the ACET
library is to provide information services and access to print and e-resources to support the
scholarly and informational needs of the institute community. The ACET central library includes
Periodical Section, Reference Section, Reprographic Section and Digital Library. The Library
has more than 18625 books and 45 Journal and Magazine Subscription which include National
and International. NPTEL video and web courses are also available. It uses the state-of-the-art
technology in its function and services. ACET Library is a member of Anna University Library,
American Library, British Council library, National Digital Library, DELNET for effective
Resource Sharing. The fully computerized library is well equipped with modern facilities and
resources in the form of books, print and e-journals, CD-ROMs, on-line databases and audio
video cassettes etc. Open Access System is being followed in the library. The Library has been
computerized all its housekeeping operations using in house development library software which
is connected to the campus-wide network and Wi-Fi which enables users to search for Library
resources and also to manage circulation related details.
Librarian's Message
To fulfill the vision and mission of the ACET, our Library has built its own website acting as access point to intellectual resources and services. Its aims are to introduce about the library facilities, services, traditional and e-resources. This website is developed to support students, faculty and staff members learning by using a wide range of resources. This website is dedicated to provide Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of the available information resources. Besides the bibliographical database, full text of e-resources subscribed by ACET is also available through this website.

1. Meetings will be conducted at every month
2. The convener will arrange the meetings at the most convenient time of the members
without disturbing their teaching schedules.
3. The date and time of the meetings will be intimated to the members either through e-mail
with the details of agenda.
4. To assist the Librarian in formulating general library polices and regulations which govern
the effective function of the library.
5. Recommendation of Books, Journals, Magazines, E-Journals, Online Databases and other
resources.
6. To make provision for better utilization of library resources and services.
7. Developing general program of Library services to suit the interest of different sections of
users.
8. To recommend sufficient library funds for the acquisition of library resources.
9. After every meeting, the convener will send the minutes of meeting (MoM) with the
details of agenda discussed & resolution passed to the Principal / ACET, for ratification and
approval.
10. Attendance will be maintained for each meeting separately with the signature of
attendees.

Section
Book Stack Section
This section contains printed books in all areas relevant to the Engineering Education and course curriculum. The books may be borrowed as per the specified circulation policy. Department wise different types of color coding the Books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) order.
Circulation Section
Circulation section includes issue, return and renewal by the usersusing their Identity card. The Bar coding technology is adapted toeach user's Identity card and also with library software to speedup the circulation process.
Students can borrow 5 books at a time and must retain themwithin a period of 15 days, before the due date. Faculty memberscan borrow 10 books at a time as they might require more books torefer for delivering excellent lectures.

Library Membership
Membership is automatically conferred to all the faculty members, research scholars or
a student on his / her joining the College and remains valid for his full tenure.
All students are eligible to check out materials for home use, or for use in the library.
To borrow books from the library you have to activate your membership in the library
circulation counter
Loan Periods/ Account Limits
Category of members, period of loan and number of books are as follows you should take the
book you wish to borrow to the Issue Desk. The book will be issued to you and the date
it is due for return will be stamped on the date slip inside.
Enter the details of the book in the register kept in the counter.
Overdue Charges
Books in loan section are issued as per rules.
An overdue notice is sent via e-mail when an item is not returned.
Fines will accumulate each day including Holidays until the item is returned to the
library
An overdue charge of Rs.1/- per day for first five days and thereafter Rs 2/- per day will
be charged if the book is not returned.
Renewal
Most library books, unless reserved for another patron, may be renewed for 2 additional
loan periods.
For renewal a user has to bring books to the Circulation Counter and renew the
borrowed books in his/her library account
The library has the right to recall a book if the same is required by another user.
Clearance of dues from the library
No dues / clearance certificate is issued provided that all the outstanding dues in respect of
borrowed book(s) and delay fine, if any, are cleared.

Information Technology Applications at the Central Library
In addition to the collection development process, the ACET, Central Library has been venturing
into the field of Information and Communication Technology by providing strong infrastructure
support to use IT gadgets. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) has been activated. It
has bibliographical records of books and other materials, Barcode system is followed in all

Rules & Regulation
Students should sign in the gate register. UG&PG Students are eligible to borrow 5 books and Faculty eligible to borrow
10 books. Books will be issued to the students only on production of the valid ID card. The books should be returned within 15 days from the date of issue. Books, which are not return on due date, a fine of Rs.1/- for the first 7 days,
from 8th day onwards Rs.2/- per day will be collected as Overdue Charges. Books may be renewed for a further period of 15 days, if the concerned book is
not reserved by others. Books that are in special demand may be called for at any time if required. A borrower taking book on loan has to check the book and inform the librarian
if there is any damage. A fine of Rs.30/- will be collected for any damage of the books.
Books borrowed from the library are not transferable. Library book must be returned when student go home on long vacation. No user shall deface the library books by underlining or scribbling notes in the
margins etc., Library Books are the Nation’s assets and belong to all. All users are required to protect library books against wanton and willful damage, mutilation, theft and other malpractices.
Loss of books issued, if any should be reported to the Librarian immediately in the prescribed form.
If the borrower’s is unable to replace the lost book by another good copy, recovery of the cost of the book lost will be made on the following bases:
Current price of the books if any, in triple plus overdue charges from the student, if the student has not reported about the loss of book before the due date.
Current price of the book in triple if the loss of books is reported before the due date.
Journal and back volumes will not be issued. Personal books and files should be left on the rack at the entrance of the library.
Plain sheets may be taken instead. Students are advised not to keep their valuable things like cell phone, calculator,
wallet etc., in the property counter. Library authorities are not responsible for any loss of such items.
Use of mobile phones inside the library is strictly prohibited. Discussions are not allowed inside the library. Strict silent should be observed in the library. Transfer Certificate will be issued only after the production of ‘No Due
Certificate’ from the library
