Course Overview Course Description: Career and Community Connections is an application level course that applies the technical skills in careers related to providing for the needs of humans. This professional learning experience may be unpaid or paid, outside or within the school environment, but provides the opportunity for learners to focus on 21st century skills, and acquire job-seeking and retention skills needed to advance within this unique workplace. FCCLA: Future Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a nationally affiliated
organization that focuses on the multiple roles of family members, wage earner and community
leaders. Members develop skills for life through character development; creative and critical
thinking; interpersonal communications; practical knowledge; and career preparation.
Membership in FCCLA is strongly encouraged for all Family and Consumer Services students.
Required Supplies:
1. Students will be provided with available technology and some materials for Labs.
2. You are required to bring two (2) 1 ½ inch 3-ring binder, 5-Section dividers, Notepaper, copy
paper, pencil, Blue or Black ink pens. * These will be used for logs and to keep all documentation
for submission.

Unit 1: Life’s Perspectives
1 week to complete (check calendar for dates) Standards: 0.5.1 Manage the physical and social environment to reduce conflict and promote safety in settings (i.e. family, work, community, and cyberspace). 7.1.3 Analyze personal, social, intellectual, economics, technical, educational, and recreational issues of individual and family under changing condition. 7.5.5 Maintain accurate documentation to be submitted in a timely manner to appropriate sources.
