SWOT Analysis of the Current Situation
![Page 14: LIBBY STONE & ANGELA DAVIS ♦ NCCCLA 2015. Community & Junior College Libraries Section of NCLA NC Community College Library Association.](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062803/56649f295503460f94c42ef6/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Strengths…Both organizations:
• Captures more numbers as two organizations
• The people
• Have representation at NCLA but also independence with NCCCLA
NCCCLA:
• Specific to community colleges and their concerns
• Like having a separate organization
• More open to various types of staff/employees
NCLA / CJCLS:
• Have a voice in a larger organization
• Recognized in all types of libraries
• CJCLS as “pedigree” of NCLAGroup Discussion
![Page 15: LIBBY STONE & ANGELA DAVIS ♦ NCCCLA 2015. Community & Junior College Libraries Section of NCLA NC Community College Library Association.](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062803/56649f295503460f94c42ef6/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Weaknesses…• Hard to keep current with two organizations• Energy is split; one main organization is
needed• Stretched too thin• Lack of money• Divided focus/attention• Higher cost to individuals who join both!!• Confusion with CJCLS for new people• Lack of membership in each organization• NCCCLA lacks strategic vision, business plan,
and marketing strategy
Group Discussion
![Page 16: LIBBY STONE & ANGELA DAVIS ♦ NCCCLA 2015. Community & Junior College Libraries Section of NCLA NC Community College Library Association.](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062803/56649f295503460f94c42ef6/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Opportunities…• Create stronger professional development
opportunities by collaborating
• Bigger voice if we leverage a partnership
• Leadership opportunities
• Collaboration possibilities
• Complement instead of duplicating efforts
• Merge! More strength could be found as one organization.
• Specialized professional development (during off-conference years and at NCLA)
Group Discussion

Threats…• Confusion with acronyms and
understanding goals of each organization
• Getting enough officers to serve on committees for two organizations
• Inactivity• Apathy• No travel funds• Burnout
