DMCA (Digital Millennial Copyright Act) Don’t have a bit-torrent program on your computer unless it is necessary for your

academics

UITS will catch you if you download or file-share using the IU secure computer network

Don’t loan your computer to friends or siblings—they may illegally download something and not tell you about it

You only get two chances here at IU to learn how not to download—on the third incident you are permanently barred from putting a personal machine on the IU secure computer network

Violations are costly—minimally it will cost you $100 with the university and you may be billed additional costs by the copyright holder. (The most –reported cost of an illegally downloaded movie is $200, billed to the student by the copyright holder)
