muri > cablaggi & gas > camere lato criogenia > camere lato c.room
Velo Status
• Sensors under production (delivered sensors are ok)• Module PRR expected in beginning of Nov.• Module production start expected beginning of November• Production schedule starts with 1/wk, cranks up to 2/wk in Jan.• 46 modules to be built• Installation in the pit foreseen for
October 2006
VELO will undergo an important test beam in 2006 aiming to:
• verify alignment constants, in vacuum and in final power and cooling configuration• If necessary, correct detector positions for LHCb trigger operation• Entire half is powered, and 10 modules are read out• safety issue: that the software is sufficiently reliable to be able to move detector into LHC beams
This is THE full “rehearsal” with beam particles and the LHCbenvironment !
Sensors• Zurich swamped by sensors: IT 440/531 pcs; TT 200/1000 pcs• sensors so far of excellent quality (HPK)
Beetle FEE wafer chips under testIT/TT hybrid pre-series: some initial problems (solved)
IT Ladder production• bonding problem on pre-series pitch adapters• slightly slower startup
TT ladder production• preseries completed in July (smooth)• production started in August
IT+TT installation foreseen in July 2006
Silicon Tracker Status
Outer Tracker Status
Test beam at DESY with final modules - the OT detector showed good performance:• High efficiency (>98%)• Coordinate resolution ~ 200 µm• Acceptable noise • Cross talk level (< 5%)
OT Infrastructure history
TDR : Global Movement Present : 12 independent C-Frames
Major Re-Design in the OT Infrastructure, with 12 C-Frames, rolling ducts, facilities to support IT, etc.
Consequences for time schedule and finances, working hard to minimize both…
Focus on infrastructure and installation
• C-Frames production on schedule
• Support Structure remains a concern, but we are trying hard
• First version of detailed installation plan, including personnel, available
Calorimeters Status
Warning from refined Geant 4 simulation of background :
• New Geant 4 numbers indicate higher current in PMTs of HCAL and ECAL
• Especially true for HCAL cells close to beam => could be cured by lowering PMTs gain
• Smaller effect for ECAL but more critical => gain already very low and lowering the gain increases the electronic noise contribution…. Real measurement in 2007 !!!
• Si sta organizzando il lavoro preparatorio per un Physics book ensure that we develop a plan and strategy for the first couple of
years of LHCb physicsfocus the collaboration on the preparation for physics with real data,
including work on HLTreach a better overall view of our physics potential and priorities, and
how we are going to achieve our physics goalsthe physics book should ideally be finished at the end of 2006, so that
effort can be concentrated in 2007 on the "commissioning of the calibration and analyses", and on the analyses themselves.
Items that should have priority
Production and decay models WG:sigma_bb with b J/psi X (needs luminosity)production asymmetry, e.g. B0 J/psi K*
Flavour tagging WG:sin2beta from B0 J/psi Kshort, using B0 J/psi K*0 as control
