2012 LGO La Grande Odyssée- from the 7th to the 18th of January 2012

Dermoscent® is pleased to introduce to you the 8th edition of "La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc"

(LGO-France) which will take place in just few days from the 7th of January.

This prestigious sled dog race in the high mountains of French Alps gathers the best mushers in the

world.

Three rounds will be held during the whole competition of 12 days in different areas of the Alps: the

Grand Massif & Praz de Lys-Sommand (from the 7th till the 10th), the Espace Diamant Megève (from the

11th till the 13th ) and finally the Haute Maurienne Vanoise (from the 14th till the 18th).

Thirty of the best mushers in the world coming from 10 different countries will meet for this 2012 event

by challenging 1000 Km of slopes (out of which 600 Km are specifically selected and created for this

occasion) with an ascension of 30000 meters in the magnificent Alps - Mont Blanc. These world-class

athletes with their highly well trained dogs will live through a true human adventure under

incommensurable elements: extreme climate accompanied by 70% of slopes which are non-skiable and

half of the race taking place during the night with two bivouacs to be mounted in the high mountains.

This legendary sled dog race is part of the Arctic Alps Cup alongside the Finnmarksløpet race, making this

international event a must for those who wish to appear in the official world mushers ranking.

There are altogether 430 racing dogs this year with mostly Alaskan and Siberian Husky as usual. Each dog

will be well followed up and taken care of by the competent team of veterinary staff of LGO 2012.

More than 100000 spectators will be attending the event at starting and finishing lines. Several millions

more will be following it through TV and radio transmissions by France 3 (French national TV channel),

M6 (French national TV channel) and Radio France Bleu (French national radio station). Several

specialised media supports will cover this annual event including the famous French magazine “30

Millions d’amis” (leading pet magazine in France).

JP Pontier as the 2nd

runner up during the 2011 LGO

Jean-Philippe Pontier, the undisputed French leader, is back again this year for this important meeting

and it is the 3rd consecutive year that Dermoscent® has sponsored its exceptional musher. Jean-Philippe

improves his performance each year by finishing the 5th runner up during the 2009 and the 2010 races,

while he reached the podium by crossing the finishing line as the 2d runner up last year. As a semi-

professional musher, Jean-Philippe has quickly become the best French competitor ever since his first

participation in the LGO a few years ago. His remarkable skills and perseverance allowed him to

outperform the competitors with only 1h17m behind the champion and 47 minutes behind the first

runner up during the 2011 race.

All the 25 sled dogs of Jean-Philippe (Jacko, Thelon, Winner, etc..) have enjoyed since 3 years the

exceptional skin care of Dermoscent®. Each racing dog has been taken care of by the innovative products
