Once the last train stop between Santiago and the Pacific

Ocean, the Leyda Valley is located west of Chile’s coastal

mountain range at a span of 2-8 miles (4-14 km) from the

coast. The valley has a distinctly cool, maritime climate with

a unique influence from the Pacific. Sea breezes and ocean

mist carried by the Humboldt Current have a tempering

effect on the otherwise hot summers of this latitude.

Leyda’s temperate growing season allows for slow,

extended ripening of the grapes, ultimately yielding

wines with highly expressive aromatics and flavor,

while maintaining exquisite structure and balance.

We invite you to make a stop at Viña Leyda during

your adventure in wine, and experience for

yourself the elegant, expressive wines of Chile’s

most exciting new region.

Historically, the Leyda Valley was considered suitable only for pasture lands and dry

farming due to limited precipitation and no natural rivers. However, in 1997 a group

of Chilean entrepreneurs surveyed the valley and discovered that its climate and

soil provided near perfect conditions for growing grapes.

In order to realize the region’s full potential, a reliable water supply would be needed.

The enterprising investors funded and built a 5 mi (8 km) pipeline from the Maipo

River, bringing essential water supplies to the valley. Leading the way for viticultural

development of the area, they were the first to showcase the results of the valley’s

unique terroir and ultimately establish it as a new D.O. in 2002.

Planted on rolling hills with low-nutrient,

loamy-clay soil and alluvial stone on the

surface, the Viña Leyda vineyards are ideal

for producing small yields of concentrated

grapes. Within the vineyard, architecture

and density are constantly adjusted to

attain the perfect design for each variety.

Located within its namesake valley, Viña Leyda is a young, fresh and innovative

winery, dedicated to using the latest in technology to analyze every detail of the

growing region. Ongoing research and investments are routinely made to ensure

each plot performs to its maximum potential. The winery is equipped with

state-of-the-art equipment and a diverse selection of barrel types to ensure precise

varietal expression and utmost quality throughout the winemaking process.

Pinot Noir

Las Brisas Pinot Noir

Planted in 1998, the Las Brisas

vineyard is located on a southwest slope within

the Leyda Estate, benefitting from lower sun

intensity and greater cooling influences from

the ocean breeze. As a result, the Pinot Noir

grapes of this vineyard are allowed to ripen at

an extremely relaxing pace, naturally

developing intense aromas of raspberries,

cherries and herbs. Aged exclusively in old

French oak to preserve bright fruit flavors.

Sourced exclusively from the southern-facing

Garuma vineyard block, this Sauvignon Blanc

benefits from the coolest conditions within

the Leyda Estate. Cold ocean air passes

directly through this vineyard, enhancing

the minerality of its wines. Partial harvests

are made to maximize flavor complexity and

aromatic freshness. Powerful

grapefruit and herb aromas

are accompanied by a

lemon and verbena palate.

The crisp acidity is balanced

by a round, creamy texture

and persistent juicy finish.

Garuma Sauvignon Blanc

Mineral and elegant, this

wine displays the

maritime character of

Leyda, together with an

even complexity of herbs

and citrus notes. On the

palate, it features fresh,

herbal hints, crisp acidity

and a juicy finish.

Fresh and fruit driven

with aromas of ripe citrus

and tropical hints of kiwi.

On the palate it has a

W I N E M A K E RViviana Navarette is the multi-awarded,

talented winemaker behind Leyda, honored by the leading wine publications as one of Chile’s

Top 10 winemakers. She graduated at the top of her class with a degree in oenology from the

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She has come to know the Leyda Valley very well, and

has always believed in the great potential of its wines. Viviana’s vision is to harness the

potential of the Leyda Valley vineyards to demonstrate the ability of this area to produce

extraordinary, cool climate wines.

Grapes grown in very cool climates will have a different expression, or profile, than those grown in warmer areas. Cool climate wines have intense yet balanced flavors and aromas in lively varietals that pair easily with food or can be enjoyed alone.C O O L E X P R E S S I O N S C L A S S I C V A R I E T A L Sof

The blue Leyda building is a historic passage point on

the way from Santiago to Chile’s scenic coast; it was

once the last train station before travelers reached the

Pacific. Over time, it became both a landmark, as well

as a saying, meaning “the way” to the coast. Though

no longer standing, the blue train station is still an

icon for consumers to find Viña Leyda: the way to an

exciting adventure in Chilean wine.
