AIDS is not A disease...it is OUR disease.

4th of JulyAIDS Volunteers, Inc. along with Key Peer Opinion Leaders (KPOL) held a volunteer appreciation dinner to reward and show thanks to all of the dedicated volunteers. Follow-ing the dinner was a warm welcome at the downtown Lexington 4th of July Parade where volunteers and staff represented AVOL wearing and displaying red HIV/AIDS awareness ribbons.“We were able to reach a large population concerning age, race, and sexual identification demographics. It was gratifying seeing the sincere response from the city as a whole.”

~Aunsha Hall, AVOL Prevention Specialist

Did you see?Our very own social worker, Ashley Hudson represented AVOL July 16th on Lexington’s local news channel, WTVQ 36. The story also interviewed a person living with HIV to discuss the current issue of support among the HIV/AIDS community within Lexington, Kentucky.

Ashley Hudson emphasized the importance of having resources for not only HIV/AIDS patients, but the general public alike. The story focused on this growing epidemic and the services that are offered at AVOL such as free anonymous HIV testing, preventative ma-terials, as well as housing, food, medicine, and transportation options for clients.

OUT LOUD!

We Want You!

On June 23rd, AVOL participated in Lexington’s Annual GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender) Health Fair, “OUT LOUD”. The health fair offered free health screenings, information, entertainment, food, drinks, and prizes. The purpose of the health fair was to raise awareness among minority communities and the general public within Lexington.

Positively SpeakingInterview with client.

Did you know that your financial support makes a vital difference to our clients? AVOL serves as a last resort for those living with HIV/AIDS when the State and Federal government can no longer offer help. By making a dona-tion to AVOL, you will help a client avoid eviction, pre-vent their utilities from being turned off, and/or provide them with food, medicine, and transportation to doctor’s appointments.

Your Support Makes A Difference!

In addition to insuring the well-being of clients, every donation assures that crucial prevention and education efforts to control the spread of HIV disease will continue. Our ability to serve those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS is dependent upon community support – your support. Please consider making a donation today. Your gift, no matter the size, will make a difference!
