Leviticus 16:29-30 Leviticus 16:29-30 This shall be a permanent

statute for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble your souls and not do any work, whether the native, or the alien who sojourns among you; 30 for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

Hebrews 8:1-2Hebrews 8:1-2Now the main point in what has

been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.

Page 28: Leviticus 16-27 © John Stevenson, 2012. Outline of Leviticus Laws of the Offerings (1-7) Laws of the Priests (8-10) Laws of Purity (11-15) Day of Atonement.

Hebrews 8:4-5Hebrews 8:4-5Now if He were on earth, He

would not be a priest at all, since there are those who offer the gifts according to the Law; 5 who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, “See,” He says, “that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.”

Page 29: Leviticus 16-27 © John Stevenson, 2012. Outline of Leviticus Laws of the Offerings (1-7) Laws of the Priests (8-10) Laws of Purity (11-15) Day of Atonement.

Hebrews 9:6-7Hebrews 9:6-7Now when these things have been

so prepared, the priests are continually entering the outer tabernacle performing the divine worship, 7 but into the second, only the high priest enters once a year, not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance.

Page 30: Leviticus 16-27 © John Stevenson, 2012. Outline of Leviticus Laws of the Offerings (1-7) Laws of the Priests (8-10) Laws of Purity (11-15) Day of Atonement.

Hebrews 9:8-10Hebrews 9:8-10The Holy Spirit is signifying this,

that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the outer tabernacle is still standing, 9 which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10 since they relate only to food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation.

Page 31: Leviticus 16-27 © John Stevenson, 2012. Outline of Leviticus Laws of the Offerings (1-7) Laws of the Priests (8-10) Laws of Purity (11-15) Day of Atonement.

Hebrews 9:11-12Hebrews 9:11-12But when Christ appeared as a

high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; 12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
