Simon CoppingStrategic development manager - digital solutions

Simon graduated in 1996 with BSc. in Computer Science and has been developing well integrity

data management solutions for 15 years. In his current role at Wood, he is responsible for the

supporting the development of the iWIT well integrity software in accordance with legislative

requirements. The digital solutions team is also using data analytics to present new perspectives

on well integrity data, and leveraging machine learning to predict equipment failures and

improve well integrity.

We deliver performance-driven solutions throughout the asset life cycle,

from concept to decommissioning across a broad range of energy and

industrial markets.

Well integrity is the application of technical, operational and

organisational methods to prevent the uncontrolled flow of

fluids at the surface or across subsurface formations

throughout the life cycle of the well (ISO 16530-1)

at 100,000 barrels (16,000 m3) of oil per day in 1901.~760,000

iWIT supports with regulatory compliance

(1) Operating limits

(2) Performance

standards

(3) Well barriers

(4) Annulus pressure

management

(5) Surveillance

(6) Maintenance

(7) Risk management

(8) Management of

change

(9) Well handover

Supporting regulatory compliance

• Complete visibility of WIM processes

• Improve safety and certainty of issues

• Identify production threats and lower cost

• Identify trends and possible well component

failures ahead of time

• Support for proactive maintenance –

optimise workover schedules

• Unified reporting across assets

• Improve control of contractor activities

• Flexibility to adapt to changes through time

• Fully supported deployments

• Standardize best practice – conform with ISO

16530 and NORSOK D-010 & PHMSA

Risk assessment process

The well operator shall assess and manage risks associated with failure(s) of a well barrier or well barrier element(s). These risks can be assessed against the performance standards as defined by the well operator, by legislation or by industry standards.
