I have no big dream in my life. When I was young, I hoped to be a special agent like Tom Cruise in movies, who always has exci�ng experience and does not live repeatedly. You can imagine his diary should be very plen�ful, but not a plain paper.

When I grow up, I succeeded to be a part of the society. But is that my life? It’s �me to jump out my box. I hope that my diary would be full of different experience in different par�es and have no regret to my life when I leave this world.

Don’t judge before try

I am an independent and passionate traveller. Upon the comple�on of the last job, I departed from Hong Kong with my camera and laptop and headed for an adventurous journey of my life.

I became a backpacker and visited different countries by land way. This is one of the biggest challenges in my life. Ge�ng on a train, I le� Hong Kong to see the other parts of the world on my own. I discovered South Asia through buses, trains and on foot. I got on the roof of the world - Tibet. Star�ng from Tibet, I hopped on a car and got to Nepal, followed by India. I experienced the cultures and rediscovered the people in every city and every village I stepped into.

I believe that every single trip can inspire my sense of crea�vity and build up a clear goal in my life, which can

also refresh my design and allow me to do more meaningful designs. It also widened my horizons in various fields - Design, Photography and New Media. I learnt from the difference in lifestyles and cultures. I have shown self-improvement during the trip.

Blue Poison Dart Frog

WA2 is an interac�ve toy for a group of people to play. Given the topic “an animal living in the forest”, I chose a frog as the theme of my work.

Developed with an Arduino board, it combined two games “Music Pass Ball” and “Guess the Number”, which are both suitable for a group of people to play together. Par�cipants shake it to choose a number and then pass it to your friends to find out the “lucky” loser.

Based on this game, I tried to find an animal which is

related to the game. Finally, I chose a special species of frog called “Blue Poison Dart Frog”.

It is a toxic frog with blue skin and black patches. The phosphorescence on its skin leads to this extraordinary appearance.

As it is toxic, everyone does not want to touch it and is afraid of it. In the game, players pass it to their friends quickly, as if it is toxic and it seems like a frog is jumping around.

Hand drawing for brainstorm how to deform the animal.

A�er picking this frog to be the work design, I tried to think of some original features that can be modified to make it my work.

I sketched many different postures and hope to find one that is comfortable to hold on hand and shake. At the end, I selected a posture that it is daydreaming.

For the outlook, dots on blue skin is a signature of the species, so it has been kept in my work. I think using acrylic boards to install, in pairs with engraved dots, would be a good fit.

Since some electronic parts would be installed, there are concerns for users to hold it on their hands. I did a shape adjustment to balance all poten�al dangers.

Modifying...

Besides the frog's special inborn appearance, I tried to combine some elements that also connect with the frog. Therefore, I added its living environment to my work.

When the LED light is on, you can see the deformed leaf pa�ern engraved inside the frog, as shown in photos below.

Pair with the VR glasses, you can move your head around to enjoy the 360° view point. Besides, par�cipants can hold their hands to stop.

Wing your hands, you can speed up and fly up in the VR world.

When par�cipants raise their arms above the level of shoulders, they will go forward in the screen.

This project was created in a group of five by using Kinect with VR technology. My du�es are idea development, so�ware development and video produc�on.

We hope to share messages to par�cipants in the work. When they imitate a bird’s mo�on, the VR will show them as if they are flying in the sky. There are many WhatsApp message bubbles come with different sentences. When the player approaches a message, they can hear the hidden meaning of each message that they may missed.

Using Unity to connect to Kinect, four joints of the player will be monitored to control the flying direction and speed. Through calculate the middle point and left/right points’ y-level to control the action.

In the old day, le�ers were delivered by pigeon, which is the beginning of this interac�ve work. Nowadays, we receive hundreds more messages every day. We may misunderstand the deeper meaning of a message. The work “Messenger” leads the par�cipant fly into the sender's inner world and let the player to hear what the sender wants to say truly.

At the beginning, we took the advantage of an aircra� as our first interac�ve form of ac�on, but found that its interac�vity was not sufficient. Therefore, it has been replaced by the flying ac�on of the bird as the interac�ve form. By flapping wing, it will change the flying height, speed and direc�on to make the whole interac�ve experience of the game good for the player to have more invested in this virtual interac�ve device.

“Hello” is my final year project in HKDI. Aim to ease the ageing popula�on problem and to build a smart silver city, six games based on MoCA test have been proposed in the project. To start a game and track users’ progress, users may login through an NFC chip. The record would be used for further analysis.

The project not only allowed me to combine my crea�vity with meaningful and useful ideas, it also strengthened my data research skills and communica�on skills when consul�ng advice from social welfare workers and the elderly.

A�er observing the elderly’s daily life, most of them think “Technology is far from their life”. We try to find their familiar daily habit to be our altera�on, we decided the story of this collec�on of the game is to travel around the world by using facili�es in a park.

Game 1, through pulling the handles up and down to control the digital object and avoid obstacles. Besides, eye tracking will be used to hit the obstacles.

Game 2, the first player steps on the stepper to play the digital frames, which seems the earth are rota�ng. The second player needs to jump over the obstacles.

Game 3, players should step on the stair climber to move forward and pictures will be shown along the river. Player should remember it and choose the correct branch by pressing bu�on on the le� or right handle.

Game 4, the elderly sits on a bench to play this game. There will be light effect moving towards the player. The player should step on the corresponding box to gain points.

Game 5, the first player keeps rota�ng the wheels to generate moving sound waves. The second player should flip cards to make the waves clearer.

Game 6, kids may draw a picture on the board. The picture will be mapped to a sky lantern. The elderly should ride the cycling machine to control the lantern flying up.

This is a commercial project worked for Junior Police Call (JPC), when I work in Indzz.com. A�er mee�ngs with the client, I designed the story of the game. The game can be played on both desktop computer and mobile phone. A�er I discussed with programmers, I understood the features of mobile phone that can be u�lised in the game. It provided me a chance to enhance my illustra�on skills and communica�on skills with programmers.
