ETA EU project Participation September 2018 (selection)

BECOOL is a Horizon 2020 research and innovation project to foster the cooperation between the European Union and Brazil, for the development of advanced lignocellulosic biofuels, produced from sustainable agricultural value chains.

BIO4A is a Horizon 2020 project that will scale up the industrial production and the market uptake of sustainable aviation fuel, made from residual lipids. The project will enable the large-scale pre-commercial production of ASTM-certified sustainable aviation fuel in the EU.

The innovative flexJET project uses a diverse range of organic waste feedstocks for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production. The process offers better economics and improved overall sustainability by processing waste feedstocks near the source and at a scale that matches waste availability.

European Technology and Innovation Platforms (ETIPs) are industry-led stakeholder fora recognised by the European Commission as key actors in driving innovation, knowledge transfer and European competitiveness in the energy sector.

TO-SYN-FUEL is a project funded by Horizon 2020 EU’s new research and innovation programme, with the aim to build-up, operate and demonstrate the production of Synthetic Fuels and Green Hydrogen from organic waste biomass, mainly sewage sludge.

Since 2016, ETA Florence has been consultant to the EC to organise EU Energy Days in order to present the EU’s experience in promoting clean energy and its upcoming initiatives, share knowledge and expertise with international partners and give networking opportunities to businesses, innovators and investors.

EVENTS

EUBCE - European Biomass Conference and Exhibition is Europe’s largest Biomass science and industry gathering. EUBCE combines a highly-respected international scientific conference with an international exhibition.

The objective of the NextGenRoadFuels project is to apply advanced HTL technology and subsequent upgrading to a selected range of low value/cost, concentrated biogenic residues from urban activity, in order to obtain cost competitive, sustainable drop-in quality synthetic gasoline and diesel fuels.

Market Analysis

EMINENT Early Market Introduction of New Energy Technologies in

liaison with science and industry

The ultimate goal of EMINENT is:

To strengthen the European industry and policy institutions by comprising and operating a network that comprises elevated expertise from science and technology research for the purpose of enhancing and accelerating the market introduction of energy-and-environmental technologies.

To reach this ultimate goal, EMINENT has the following working objectives for this particular proposal:

• Promotion and dissemination of results of technology research and demonstration projects in energy technologies relevant to different regions, both inside Europe and outside Europe by making use of the EMINENT assessment tool; • Complement and strengthen dissemination activities carried out within individual FP5 and FP6 projects; • To combine results from different projects and make (objective and unbiased) assessments of the technologies with the highest market potential as a basis for a thematic approach to promotion and dissemination; • To cut lead time for enabling technologies, concepts and tooling by securing the right means and measures when needed; • To bridge the gap between European R&D centres and the European energy technology industry; • At policy level, to identify pertaining needs and requirements relating to research, knowledge and development, and to make appropriate strategic recommendations and key notes for policy documents.
