11 June 2010Dear parents / carers

As you will know, we have been running our Parent Power campaign this year to promotemore parents / carers to get involved in the life of the school.

The Parents Focus Group (PFG) continues to meet half termly to discuss various issuesaffecting the school, parents / carers and students. The next PFG is due to take place onWednesday 30 June 2010 and I write to bring this to your attention as we are opening this outto all parents / carers from Deben and Orwell High Schools.

The guest speaker at this meeting will be David Triggs, CEO of the Academies EnterpriseTrust, the sponsor of the new Felixstowe Academy. At this meeting, David will be giving a shortintroduction to the AET and its involvement in Felixstowe and will be spending the bulk of therest of the time answering any questions parents / carers may have. This meeting is due to takeplace at Deben at 5.30pm in the Upper School Hall.

There are 200 available seats at this meeting (100 for Deben parents / carers and 100 for Orwell parents / carers). I would appreciate you indicating if you would be attending pleasedrop an email to Mrs Cumberland, Heads PA, on office@deben.suffolk.sch.uk or drop a noteinto Main Reception by the end of school on Friday 25 June 2010.

There are still places available on the PFG for those of you who wish to find out more aboutwhat goes on at Deben High School. The commitment is 6 meetings a year lasting an hour and

you can influence the agenda. The next PFG meeting after 30 June will be next academic year (most likely September 2010). If you are interested then please contact my PA Mrs Cumberlandon the email address above.
