Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Hindi , !nglish Clean "ndia #ission$ is a

national campaign by the Go%ernment o& "ndia, co%ering '') statutory towns, to

clean the streets, roads and in&rastructure o& the country.

This campaign was o*cially launched on + ctober +)' at -aghat, /ew Delhi,

where 0rime #inister /arendra #odi himsel& cleaned the road. "t is "ndia1s biggeste%er cleanliness dri%e and 2 million go%ernment employees and school and college

students o& "ndia participated in this e%ent. The mission was started by 0rime

#inister #odi, who nominated nine &amous personalities &or the campaign, and they

too3 up the challenge and nominated nine more people and so on (li3e the

branching o& a tree$. "t has been carried &orward since then with people &rom all

wal3s o& li&e oining it.
