Liz Humphries Residence Director Bentley University To whom it may concern, It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend Jessica Morgan for an Assistantship to supplement her educational pursuits in the Higher Education and Student Affairs graduate program at The University of Vermont. For one academic year, I served as the Resident Director for San Francisco Hall at Loyola University Chicago and as Jessica’s direct supervisor in her role as a Learning Community Assistant (LCA) for the GreenHouse Learning Community. I have come to know and admire her as a student and as an individual and I cannot think of a more applicable field for Jessica to want to pursue. I am confident that she will be an asset to the Assistantship program in the office that she seeks to garner experience with at UVM given her dedication to her academics as well as her commitment to serving and working with students in the university setting. In the time that I have known her, Jessica has shown great dedication to her academic life at Loyola. It is absolutely a challenge to balance the role of a Loyola student given the rigorous academic curriculum while serving in the role of an LCA, but Jessica has made the choice to return to the position for a second year after gaining experience in balancing difficult demands in regards to time management, interpersonal skills, and working with a team of her peers. In her role as a mentor to the San Francisco residents who choose to be a part of the GreenHouse Learning Community, Jessica has set an example for her peers and students for what a strong Loyola student with a heavy focus on academics truly is. Jessica knows the value of her academic life at Loyola and understands the importance of getting out of her education exactly what she puts into it. Her passion for sharing that with other students is profoundly evident. At the start of her first academic year in the LCA position, Jessica took on the challenge of helping to establish what the LCA position truly entailed given that it was in its first year of existence. Additionally, Jessica seized the opportunity to help form the GreenHouse Learning Community in its new home: San Francisco hall. Jessica has taken the lead on working with her supervisor and Administrative Partners for the Learning Community to coordinate programs that are intellectually stimulating and socially engaging for those that participate. She successfully worked with a group of her Resident Assistant peers to define the community that exists within San Francisco and set the bar how to go about educating the larger residential community on issues related to environmental sustainability. Jessica brings a very genuine personality and a calming presence, along with an unyielding sense humor. I feel both grateful and honored to have the opportunity to work with her throughout the 2013-2014 academic year and I know that she would be an incredible addition to the Assistantship program in conjunction with the Higher Education and Student Affairs graduate program at The University of Vermont and to the field of student affairs. Please feel free to contact me by phone at (617) 548-4151 or by email at [email protected] should you have additional questions regarding Jessica’s candidacy for a position. Sincerely, Liz Humphries Resident Director Bentley University

Residence Director

To whom it may concern,

It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend Jessica Morgan for an Assistantship to supplement her

educational pursuits in the Higher Education and Student Affairs graduate program at The University

of Vermont. For one academic year, I served as the Resident Director for San Francisco Hall at

Loyola University Chicago and as Jessica’s direct supervisor in her role as a Learning Community

Assistant (LCA) for the GreenHouse Learning Community. I have come to know and admire her as a

student and as an individual and I cannot think of a more applicable field for Jessica to want to

pursue. I am confident that she will be an asset to the Assistantship program in the office that she

seeks to garner experience with at UVM given her dedication to her academics as well as her

commitment to serving and working with students in the university setting.

In the time that I have known her, Jessica has shown great dedication to her academic life at Loyola.

It is absolutely a challenge to balance the role of a Loyola student given the rigorous academic

curriculum while serving in the role of an LCA, but Jessica has made the choice to return to the

position for a second year after gaining experience in balancing difficult demands in regards to time

management, interpersonal skills, and working with a team of her peers. In her role as a mentor to the

San Francisco residents who choose to be a part of the GreenHouse Learning Community, Jessica

has set an example for her peers and students for what a strong Loyola student with a heavy focus on

academics truly is. Jessica knows the value of her academic life at Loyola and understands the

importance of getting out of her education exactly what she puts into it. Her passion for sharing that

with other students is profoundly evident.

At the start of her first academic year in the LCA position, Jessica took on the challenge of helping to

establish what the LCA position truly entailed given that it was in its first year of existence.

Additionally, Jessica seized the opportunity to help form the GreenHouse Learning Community in its

new home: San Francisco hall. Jessica has taken the lead on working with her supervisor and

Administrative Partners for the Learning Community to coordinate programs that are intellectually

stimulating and socially engaging for those that participate. She successfully worked with a group of

her Resident Assistant peers to define the community that exists within San Francisco and set the bar

how to go about educating the larger residential community on issues related to environmental

sustainability.

Jessica brings a very genuine personality and a calming presence, along with an unyielding sense

humor. I feel both grateful and honored to have the opportunity to work with her throughout the

2013-2014 academic year and I know that she would be an incredible addition to the Assistantship

program in conjunction with the Higher Education and Student Affairs graduate program at The

University of Vermont and to the field of student affairs. Please feel free to contact me by phone at

(617) 548-4151 or by email at [email protected] should you have additional questions

regarding Jessica’s candidacy for a position.

Sincerely,

Liz Humphries
