LETTER FROM THE GREEK LIFE ADVISOR

philanthropic endeavors. The Greek Community at Augusta University is com-

prised of truly exemplary students who are eager to have you join their ranks.

Currently there are 12 Greek letter organizations at AU; of those 12, two

are affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference: Alpha Delta Pi and

Zeta Tau Alpha. As a proud member of an NPC organization, I can attest to

all the wonderful benefits joining a Panhellenic sorority can offer. From sister-

hood to community service, networking and leadership, scholastics and formals,

going Greek can be an exciting and incredible experience during your colle-

giate years that grows into a lifelong passion.

As you begin to explore the opportunities available to you through Greek

Life, I encourage you to speak openly and candidly with sorority members. All

of them have stories to share about why they joined their organization and

can give you a detailed look into sorority life at Augusta University. Members

of the Panhellenic Council and Rho Gammas are also a fantastic resource avail-

able to you to better explain the Panhellenic Recruitment process and answer

any questions you may have that are not explained in this look book.

The Panhellenic Council and I are beyond excited for Panhellenic Recruit-

ment 2017 and hope to see you there!

Best, Carolyn Zoerb (Coordinator of Greek Life and Student Organizations)

On behalf of the Office of Student Life

and Engagement, I would like to welcome

you to Augusta University! I am so thrilled that

you are considering Greek Life and the multi-

tude of opportunities it can provide you. Stu-

dents affiliated with fraternities and sororities

are some of our most prominent student lead-

ers and play a vital role in the success of the

university. As active and engaged members of

the campus community, they boast high scho-

lastic achievement and volunteer thousands of

hours yearly towards community service and

Bid Day

During the first day of Recruitment, you

will get the opportunity to visit both soror-

ities with your recruitment group. You will

be greeted at each chapter with songs

and chants as you are welcomed into the

party! The focus of this day is on sister-

hood, so be sure to ask questions and start

to picture yourself as a sister of the organ-

izations you are visiting.

During the second day of Recruitment,

you will have the opportunity to talk

with the chapter(s) you are visiting re-

garding their philanthropic efforts. You

will also get to see a video that shows

what the chapters do to raise money

and support their cause.

This is the final day of recruitment. Prefer-

ence will give you a deeper understanding

of the values and rituals of the chapter(s)

you are visiting. This is the time to ask

tough questions that will help you choose

your forever home. This is an important

day not only for you, but for the chapters

also. After visiting the chapter(s), you will

complete a membership preference sheet,

which will be explained more in depth later

on.

Bid day is the best day! Here you will

receive your official invitation to join a

sorority. The Rho Gammas will give you

more instructions on where to be. Fami-

ly and friends are welcome to attend

the bid day ceremony!

WHAT TO WEAR For Open House the attire is up to

you! This night will be the first time

you get to meet the Rho Gammas and

other women going through recruit-

ment with you, so dress cute, casual,

and like yourself.

Sisterhood Round (Day 1 of Recruit-

ment) you will wear the Panhellenic t-

shirt you receive at Open House. We

recommend pairing the t-shirt with

cute bottoms that will allow you to

stay cool and comfortable. The choice

of shoes is up to you! Philanthropy Round (Day 2 of Recruit-

ment) we encourage you to wear a cute,

comfortable outfit. This can be a sun dress,

flowy pants with a cute top, a romper, etc.

Again, shoe choice is all yours!

Preference (Day 3 of Recruitment) will

be semi-formal. This dress code is con-

sistent with something that you may wear

to church or a wedding. This day is the

longest and you may be standing for a

long period of time, so if you choose to

wear heels we recommend wearing your

most comfortable pair and bringing a pair

of flats as back-up.

On Bid Day (Final Day of Recruitment)

you will be given a shirt to wear. We rec-

ommend you come to the event dressed in

a cute pair of shorts and a top that you

can quickly change out of. Shoes are up to

you!

WHAT NOT TO WEAR

For Recruitment we recommend that you follow

these guidelines regarding attire:

-Please do not cut or alter the recruitment t-shirt that you

are given.

- Do not wear anything that is too short, tight, or revealing.

- Wear shoes that you can walk in for the entire day.

-If you have to question it, you probably shouldn’t wear it.

**Flip flops and cowgirl boots are fine to wear every day but Preference**

Rho Gammas

WHO THEY ARE & WHAT THEY DO

Recruitment is an exciting and memorable experience, but it

can be a hectic and emotional time as well. Recruitment coun-

selors, referred to as Rho Gammas, are women from both

chapters who have stepped away from their organization for

recruitment weekend to help you through the process.

These women have been through extensive training in prepa-

ration for recruitment weekend. They are available for you 24

hours a day as impartial listeners, guides, and friends. You will

meet the Rho Gammas for the first time at Open House and

have the opportunity to speak with them each day of recruit-

ment. These women are excited to get to know you and help

you find your letters!
