About Nareshwadi Learning Centre

Girivanvasi Educational Trust (GVET) was founded by Padma Bhushan K. J. Somaiya in 1991.

GVET runs the Nareshwadi Learning Centre (NLC ), located on a 12-acre campus in the lush green environs of the

experimental farm of Girivanvasi Pragati Mandal (GVPM) which Shri Somaiya founded in 1974 as an integrated ru-

ral development model.

Children, aged 5 to 17 years, mostly from underprivileged Warli Tribal communities study from 1st to 10th grade

at NLC. Many of them stay in our hostels which are fully subsidised by the Trust.

About 10% of them are children of single parents or no parents, HIV infected and affected families.

NLC nourishes the physical, intellectual, emotional as well as spiritual development of each child by providing

adequate care and fostering community involvement.

Please support NLC in its journey of providing quality education to these children and enhancing livelihood oppor-

tunities for tribal women and unemployed village youth.
