DO YOU LIVE IN YOUR PURSE?L ast T uesday afternoon, M r. F illm ore
in his H ea lth and H arm ony C lass took up the sub ject of P ro sp erity from a s tan d point en tirely new. H e referred to the sending fo rth of the Seventy and called atten tion to th a t p a r t of the ir instructions which forbade the use of
a purse. T hen he w ent on to show th a t m any people lim it the ir supply to the am ount there contained. By way of illustration he told of one woman who w ent for a car ride w ith the man to whom she was engaged. H e drew from his pocket a sm all purse and fumbled around in it. hunting for the dime for the fares, and all a t once it came over her with a rush w hat it would be to live year a fte r year w ith a m an like th a t, and she broke the engagem ent. H er woman’s intuition told her he was not free and generous in money m atters.
T he lesson of the afternoon was, Get aw ay from all financial lim itations and make connection w ith the great U niversal Source of supply . Almost unconsciously the purse idea becomes fixed in the mind as the storehouse of supply , and when it is em pty one thinks the resource is not in existence for him. Jesus said, “ Judge not according to the appearance.” W hen the purse appears to be em pty, be wise and know th a t back of it is the G rea t U nlim ited Resource. B y filling your purse w ith th a t sort o f thought-substance you m ake it a m agnet fo r p len ty and supply will come in new ways to fill it. Again, if you are in the habit of living financially in your purse, and counting your resources by w hat it contains, it w ere bette r th a t you have no purse a t a ll, so Jesus said to those whom he sent fo rth a t the last, “ T ake neither purse nor scrip t.”
