natureshouldbeencouragedthroughouttheyearinchildren'sdailylives.TheChildren&Nature

Network(C&NN)namedAprilasChildren&NatureAwarenessMonthseveralyearsago,andtheNatural

LeaderslaunchedGetOutsideDaytwoyearsago.Theresponseoflocalgovernments,privategroups

andindividualsacrossthecountryhasbeenuniformlysupportive.Fromthespecialproclamationsof

civicleaderstoacollectionofsongswrittentocelebratethemovement,Children&NatureAwareness

Monthhasbothinspiredthosealreadyinterestedinreconnectingchildrenwithnatureandfocusedthe

attentionofothersontheimportanceofoutdoorplayinnatureforhealthychildhooddevelopment.

Theseinitiativeshavealsohelpedbringattention,visibility,andasenseofcommunitytothemany

outstandingeffortsalreadyunderway.
