Let Us Give Thanks!November is a month of many changes and shifts. Our weather has taken its change to the steadiness of fall, and we usually see a little of the next season peeking into our forecast as well. The holiday rush of Thanksgiving quickly moves into December, and before we know it, we are thinking about a new year. It can be easy to gloss over the month totally if we aren’t careful.
November also brings about our annual Church Conference, which you can read about later in the newsletter, and our annual Stewardship Campaign. This year’s campaign is themed “Imagine: Pray, Discern, Realize.” Throughout November we will look at all the aspects of stewardship and what it means to be a part of a community of faith, well, really any community. I will be preaching a sermon series on “What is this Discipleship thing, anyway?!” I promise, it isn’t all about money, but how we can faithfully respond in a thankful way to the grace we receive from God.
On November 24th, we will take time to pray together for our next year of ministry together. Those who are prepared to make a commitment to the ministry of the church will be asked to bring their commitment card to worship, and we will ask God’s blessing on our plans together as a community.
Take time to be thankful this month, who knows, it might become a habit!
Grace and Peace, Pastor Zach

THANK YOU
A huge thank you to all who donated, baked good, brought garage sale donations, helped set up the week of the show, helped on Saturday, or just came to shop and have lunch. It takes a lot of time and work both for the Garage Sale and Craft show and I really appreciate everyone who had a part in making the day successful.

This year has been very challenging for our church. We have lost some active and
generous members to death. We moved back to one service on Sunday, which met
with a mixed reaction. Our pastor was reassigned to a church in Aurora and a new
pastor was appointed to service our congregation.
At the same time we experienced great joys. We have a successful youth mission trip. We added more
technical capabilities within our building. We have paid down the Forging the Future campaign from
$305,000 down to around $60,000. There have been some weddings and some births. This was the
second year of our Big Garden and we continued our Share program.
The life of the church is not unlike our own life with its ups and downs. We celebrated births and
family trips. We mourned deaths. We struggled in our marriage and other relationships. We realized
financials hardships and successes. Disasters have occurred.
I can tell you from personal experience, that God never leaves our side during these times. He is there
during the good times and the bad times. We need to be there for his church. We need to help this
challenging year end on a positive note. Please pray for our church and for your fellow members so
that we may do God’s work.
God is calling on us to be generous and cheerful givers!

Thank YouThank you to everyone who came to the Youth Stock Supper. It was a lot of fun. We have another opportunity to join each other for a little fun coming up on December 6th. The MiM will be sponsoring a Game Night. Fun, snacks and music too. Come join us at 7PM for a great time. As a bonus... we will end the evening with a Youth Lock-in. All tweens and teens are invited to join the fun. Hope to see you there! boB
The SegueThe youth have been exploring Peter’s journey after Christ ascended to heaven. We have had wonderful conversations and it is without a doubt the leaders we are forging will be strong and sure footed. How do we arrive there? Take the passages below...
1 Peter 3:33 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.
Here we open the conversation to everything a youth is flooded with in today’s society. We see it, confront it and talk about how to manage it. Then what?
1 Peter 3:8-118 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Through forgiveness and love. The world may be very different from his time, but the lessons are as poignant today as the day they hit paper. Please, grab your teen and join us for a session of Segue. See what all the buzz is about and help us to create the best of the next generation. We meet Sunday’s at 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM.
Thank you and hope to see you there, boB

need to have an organizational meeting before we get there. Pastor Zach has a couple
of ideas for how to go about this class, and what’s to discuss it with you. Join him on
November 17th after worship for a discussion about confirmation. If you have any
questions, or can’t make it, please contact Pastor Zach.
