I. Objectives

Within the period, the students with 75% accuracy are expected to:

1. Explain the functioning of the 12 cranial nerves.2. Describe the common disorders associated to the cranial nerves.3. Share the appreciation of the significance of the 12 cranial nerves in

relation to learning.4. Construct a schematic diagram on the process of human-environment

perception.

II. Subject Matter

Concept: The 12 Cranial NervesTopics: Cranial Nerves

Normal functioning Disorders of the Cranial nerves

Skills: Understanding facts, rational thinking, assessment skills, connectingrelationships

Values: Awareness, good health, knowledge, appreciation of the body

III. Instructional Materials

Scaffolds: Picture/Video presentation, LCD projector, laptop, speakers, problem cards.

IV. Procedure (Lecture-Discussion Method)

1. Introduction

(Present a video depicting the use of senses of a normal functioning person and a person who lost one or more of his senses)

Gather 2 or 3 reactions or observations from the students.Teacher should supplement every reaction of the students.

2. Lecturette

Present the hyperlinked summary table through PowerPoint presentation3. Interaction

Page 2: Lesson plan on the 12 cranial nerves

(The teacher divides the class into 12 groups corresponding to the 12 cranial nerves. They will be given 1 problem card each. A problem card represents a case of a person with a disorder of one cranial nerve. Each group is given 3 minutes to answer a problem card. The cards will be rotated to each group until each group is able to answer the 12 problem cards)

The class rationalizes the answers to the problem cards.

4. Culmination

The teacher summarizes the topic and the students share their appreciation on the significance of the 12 cranial nerves to human life.

V. Evaluation

1. Construct a schematic diagram on the perception process depicting the 12 cranial nerves. Use arrows to represent the flow of stimuli from the environment to the central nervous system.

2. Classify the 12 cranial nerves based on the criteria below.
