They have had 3 English hours per week during 2 years .Their English level is low , they don’t like English very much because of the fear to speak in English. They speak and write in English like in Spanish. There are students who understand written English very well because they know the grammar rules but their spoken English is very weak. Besides their listening comprehension needs to be improved. There is another group of students who understand when they are listening to spoken English. The students of this grade are afraid of speaking in English and they prefer to use Spanish.

MEANING/ USE

1. We often use the present perfect tense to talk about experience from the past. We are not interested in

when you did something. We only want to know if you did it:

I have seen Rio

Has he lived in Barranquilla? We have not eaten Caiman

Page 10: Lesson plan mabel, orena, doris

2. We also use the present perfect tense to talk about a change or new information: John has broken his sun glassesI have not bought my sundownHave you visited Cartagena?

Page 11: Lesson plan mabel, orena, doris

3. We often use the present perfect tense to talk about a continuing situation. This is a state that started in the past and continues in the present (and will probably continue into the future). This is a state (not an action). We usually use for or since with this structure.

I have lived here since JuneHe has not slept for 2 daysHow long have you known Mabel?

My last vacation

Last year I really enjoy my vacation. I had time to relax, to do the activities I really like, to spend time with my family and friends and many things else. I have never been to the coast and I was really surprised when I saw the beautiful beaches, the deep blue sea and the wonderful people that live there. I haven´t eaten fish soup because my mother doesn´t know how to cook it, we went to a restaurant and my friends told me that I will never regret it, they were right….that was the most delicious soup I have ever tasted. I also ate a kind of candy that is prepared in the coast region of Colombia. It is prepared with coconut, sugar, and a secret ingredient.

We decided to go to Islas del Rosario, an island near Cartagena, it is a beautiful place, I had never seen a dolphin and I have never been to an aquarium before, you can find them there; I took a lot of pictures and my family hadn´t taken any pictures with those sea animals they were so happy that they took pictures with sharks, sea horses, sting rays, octopus and sea start. It was the best vacation I have had and I invite you to visit the coast region of Colombia.
