Lesson plan (a rough idea) Equipment: Whiteboard, mini-whiteboards, Internet connection. To get going: Students write date and title and do the starter on slide 2. This involves them re-arranging the blue words in French to make the black sentences in English and hopefully gets them thinking about how to form the negative in French. And thennnnnnnn….. In slide show view, click on the box in the corner of the screen on slide 2 to see some negative homeworks. Discuss some of the mistakes made and try to list at least 3 common mistakes made when writing negatives in French. And thennnnnnnn… Refresh students memories of 4 main negative constructions on slide 3 with focus on construction of negatives by surrounding the verb. And thennnnnnnnn… Matching exercise on slide 4 to hopefully encourage students to focus on subtle differences between 4 different negative constructions. And thennnnn….. Listening exercise on slide 5 which is hosted by Vokis- Each Voki uses 4 negative sentences with each negative construction – Students translate what they hear into English. Again, good for focusing their minds on differences between ne..pas/ne…plus etc And then….. Students try to write a negative version of cartoon on left-hand side (an evil-twin who doesn’t do/like anything) You could use sp studio to make it abt one of your own students and adapt slides 6-7 accordingly. And finally…

These are negative sentences…we can use them by surrounding a verb.

1.) J’aime – I like Je n’aime pas – I don’t like (ne changes to n’ before a vowel)

2.) Je vais – I go Je ne vais plus chez le dentiste - I don’t go to the dentist any more

3.) Je fais – I do Je ne fais jamais la vaisselle – I never do the washing up

4.) Il y a – there is Il n’y a rien dans ma trousse – There is nothing in my pencil case
