MATERIALS : textbook , the questionnaire , paper , markers

ACTIVITY 1 :

Organising moment:

- greeting the class

- writing down the absent students

- checking the homework

Warm up – students are asked to talk about friendships and to say some proverbs about this theme

Students have to do exercise 1 pag.14 . ‘What is a friend ?’ They have to tick the definitions they agree

with .

Aim - to speak about friendship

Interaction : pair work

Strategy : discussion

ACTIVITY 2 :

Students are asked to read the advertisement and complete the questionnaire(pag. 14). Then they have

to do exercise 3 pag. 14- they have to decide who would be a suitable pen friend for each of the members

of their group

Aim – to complete the questionnaire

Interaction : group work

Strategy : -completing exercise

- discussion

Time : 10 minutes

ACTIVITY 3 :

Students are asked some questions about pen friends :

‘ Do you have a pen friend ?’

‘ Do you think having pen friends is a good ideea ?’

‘ Have you ever had a pen friend ?’

‘ Would you pay $ 5 to get a pen friend ?Can you think of ways of getting pen

friends without paying $ 5 ?

Aim - to promote discussion

Interaction - individually

Strategy : - answering the questions , discussion

Time : 10 minutes

ACTIVITY 4 :

Students are asked to do exercise 9 pag.16 . Then they have to read the text ‘ Who’s afraid of the green-

eyed monster ?’ and to answer the questions from exercise 10 pag 16 .

- to answer the questions

Strategy : - skimming , scanning

Home assessment – exercise 13 pag. 17 . Students have to read the problems those people have with

their friends and to write them letters of advice .
