Description of Project

PURPOSE:

Provide the students with a general overview of the progression of art

Development of the student's visual communication skills

Expose the students to digital music sampling

Further development of the student's research skills

Description of ProjectTASK:

Students will be asked to research each era of Art History and choose two pieces of art and one piece of music for each era.

Students will use Animoto to create an approximately 30 second video, chronologically depicting their chosen works of art from each era.

Students will then chronologically piece together music from each era and add finished mp3 file to their Animoto movie.

Students will then submit their work to the Teacher for review.

Description of ProjectPROCEDURE:

Day One; Duration 40 Minutes:Students will work in the computer lab to gather the necessary research.

Students will have all period to gather the research. Teacher will help and guide students through their research.

Students will open user accounts on the Animoto website.

If possible the students would be allowed to start putting their project together once their research is completed.

Description of ProjectPROCEDURE continued;

Day Two; Duration 40 Minutes:

Students will piece together their music, chronologically, using GarageBand.

Teacher will help the students with any questions and guide them through the creation of their videos.

Students will upload their images, placing them in chronological order, to the Animoto website.

Students will also upload their music file to Animoto.

Students will export their uploaded material into finished movie, approximately 30 seconds long.

Students will then submit their work to the Teacher for review

(In regards to my lesson, this is when the students are deciding what images and music to use in their video).

Teacher Preparation:

Must ensure the computer lab being used contains enough Apple Computers with GarageBand installed on them. Please note GarageBand can only be run on an Apple Computer.

Teacher must ensure the computers also have internet access.

Prior to executing this lesson plan the teacher should have prepared the students with the basic functionality of GarageBand and Animoto.

- Teacher must demonstrate the construction of the video to familiarize the students with the process.

Day one:

Teacher will bring students to computer labs to start their research for the project.

Students will construct their music and final videos.
