We don’t want to use our bodies to break the law and thus sin against God. Also, using drugs hurts our bodies. We don’t want to hurt God’s temple.

Getting drunk also hurts our bodies. It also affects our judgment so that we might use our bodies to commit other sins. We don’t want to do that.

Besides breaking the law, we would be putting our bodies (God’s temple) in harm’s way, and we would be tempting God to destroy the temple.

We don’t want to use the temple of the Holy Spirit for immoral purposes that would violate both the temple and God’s commands.
