Explication

• The concept of Les Questions au Passé Composé is how to state questions in the past tense.

• Questions in the passé composé are formed according to the following pattern: INTERROGATIVE FORM of avoir + PAST PARTICIPLE

• AVOIR: J’ai; Tu as; Il/Elle a; Nous avons; Vous avez; Ils/Elles ont

Il faut souvenir…

• When the subject of the question is a pronoun, inversion may be used.

• As-tu…? As-tu dîné? Have you dined (or eaten out)?

• A-t-il…? A-t-il travaillé? Has he worked?

• Note how questions are asked in the passé composé:

• Tu as travaillé ce week-end? Did you work this weekend?

• Qu’ est-ce-que tu as acheté?What did you buy?

• Est-ce que Paul a travaillé aussi?Did Paul work too?

Les Questions de réponses oui/non et des

• Tu as travaillé? You have worked?

• Est-ce que tu as travaillé? Have you worked?

INFORMATION Questions:

• Quand est-ce-que tu as dîné? When did you dine (or eat out)?

• Qu’est-ce que tu as mangé? What did you eat?

Vocabulaire

• How to ask people if they have ever done something:

• Est-ce tu as déjà visité Paris? Oui, j’ai déjà visité Paris. Non, je n’ai jamais visité Paris. (Have you already visited Paris? Yes, I have already visited Paris. No, I have never visited Paris.)

• Ne…Jamais: never• Déjà: ever, already
