An important Christian festival

What is the most important Christian festival?

The most important festival for Christians is Easter.

Do you know why?

Easter commemorates Jesus’ death andresurrection. Christians believe that bydying Jesus’ took the punishment for theirsins and made it possible for us to knowGod. This is the one central teaching of the Christian faith.

The meaning of Lent

Many people give up a luxury like chocolate for Lent, and on Easter Sunday Easter eggs are given. The eggs traditionally symbolize the new life Jesus brings.

Interview a Christian about how they observe Lent. What meaning do they see behind the tradition?

But for many Christians, Lent has a much deeper meaning than just giving something up for a while.

Some Christians see Lent as a call to resist temptation, just as Jesus resisted Satan’s temptation to turn a rock into bread after he had been fasting for 40 days.
