Who we are and what we doThe Leicester City Alcohol and Drug Service has over 30 years’ experience of providing specialist treatment to people in Leicester City. The fi rst step in your care with us will be an initial assessment, after which your individual treatment will be planned with you. We invite you to choose from a range of services because we understand that people’s circumstances and needs are different.

We can:• offer individual, couple, family

and group recovery therapy and treatment

• allocate you a highly trained and experienced named key worker

• offer you appointments at venues across the city including GP’s surgeries

• provide medication as part of your package of care, when appropriate

• work closely with other professionals involved in your care, including your GP

We will work with you to create and regularly review a plan for your care. You will also have the opportunity to talk to people who have successfully completed treatment.

Our team has a wide mix of skills and works closely with GPs and other local alcohol and drug services. We also provide advice and training to other care professionals and conduct research into improving alcohol and drug treatment.

Confi dentialityEveryone working for the NHS has a legal duty to keep information about you confi dential. We usually ask for your agreement for sharing information about you with people who aren’t immediately involved in your care, however, we can share it without permission in some circumstances, for example, if we are concerned about your safety or the safety of others. An important use of your information, when you are in treatment, is for the National Drug and Alcohol Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS & NATMS). We never pass on your full name and address to them, although to make sure you do not get counted twice we send your initials, date of birth, gender and part postcode. The NDTMS & NATMS submit reports to the Government so they can monitor the progress of national strategies, but these reports are always in the form of total numbers of people and there is nothing in this information which could be used to identify you. If you do not want information about you to be passed on in this way you have a right to say this or if you have further queries, please speak to your case manager.
