1 INSTRuCTIONS

1.1 BASICSBe sure to read this user manual carefully before assembling and using the Leica ToricEyePiece. Keep these instructions close to the surgical microscope.

1.2 INTENDED uSEThe integrated scale of the Leica ToricEyePiece makes it easier to adjust the angle of toric intraocular lenses.

1.3 SAfETy NOTES• Please observe all safety rules and instructions listed in the user manual provided

with your Leica surgical microscope.

• Be absolutely certain to observe this user manual.

• follow directions provided by your employer regarding work organization and safety.

• The Leica ToricEyePiece must be used by authorized and qualified specialists only.

1.4 DIRECTIONS fOR ThE uSER Of ThE INSTRumENT• The Leica ToricEyePiece may be operated together with tubes and surgical microscopes

from Leica microsystems only.

• The Leica ToricEyePiece is not calibrated. When aligning toric intraocular lenses, it does not provide a defined level of accuracy. If it is used together with a calibrated instrument, a higher level of accuracy can be attained.

• The scale in the ToricEyePiece is not fixed and can be moved freely at any time. Therefore, the orientation has to be checked again immediately before the surgery.

1.5 REquIRED TOOLSNo tools are required for installing the Leica ToricEyePiece.

1.6 STERILIzINg ThE STERILE CAPS• The sterile cap for the Leica ToricEyePiece must be sterilized in the steam autoclave

at 134 °C for longer than 10 minutes.

• Sterilizing using ethylene oxide is not permitted.

• All other parts of the Leica ToricEyePiece cannot be sterilized.

1.7 ADDITIONAL INfORmATIONIn addition, follow these instructions in your user manual – these will help you to use the Leica ToricEyePiece optimally:

• Adjusting the parfocality

• Adjusting the interpupillary distance

1.8 DISPOSAL

The respective applicable national laws must be observed for disposal of the products.

2.2 STANDARD DELIVERy

The Leica ToricEyePiece is de-livered in a stable case that provides optimal protection. Store the ToricEyePiece in this case when it is being trans-ported or not needed for use.

Dust impairs the performance of the Leica ToricEyePiece. Therefore, screw on the dust cover when the eyepiece is not installed on the surgical microscope.

The Leica ToricEyePiece can be used in combination with another 10x eyepiece from Leica microsystems only.

WarNINg

Never install the Leica ToricEyePiece above the patient or above the location of the surgery.

The Leica ToricEyePiece is optimized for installation on the right side. however, it can also be installed on the left; in this case, the diopter scale points downwards.

unscrew the knurled ring and remove the existing eyepiece.

Place the Leica ToricEyePiece on the tube.

hold the knurled ring securely on the Leica ToricEyePiece and unscrew the dust cap.

Tighten the knurled ring on the Leica ToricEyePiece.

Rotate the distance piece for eyeglasses to the desired dis-tance.

The distance piece for eye-glasses can be unscrewed for greater comfort during work. Select a position that is com-fortable for you.

Look through the eyepiece and check to see if the scale can be rotated using the lever.

Install the alternative eye-piece on the surgical micro-scope.

Keep the Leica ToricEyePiece in the protective case provided when not in use.

Pull the Leica ToricEyePiece off of the tube.

hold the knurled ring secure-ly on the eyepiece and screw on the dust cap.

Loosen the knurled ring on the Leica ToricEyePiece.
