Accuracy CheckAc c u ra c y Ch e c k

Check the accuracyof your Leica Lino reg-ularly and particularly before important meas-uring tasks. Check Levelling lockbeforechecking the accuracy.

Levelling

Checking the accuracy of the levelling

Set the instrument on a tripod half-waybetweentwo walls (A+B) that are approx. 5m apart. Placethe lock switch in the "Unlocked" position (see Lev-elling lock). Direct the instrument at wall A andswitch on the instrument. Activate the horizontallaser line or laser point andmark the position ofthe line or the point on wall (A1). Rotate the instru-ment by180° andmark the horizontal laser line orthe laser point in exactly the samewayon wall(B1).

Then place the instrument at the same elevationas close aspossible to wallA and againmark thehorizontal laser line or the laser point on wallA(A2). Rotate the instrument by180° again andmark the laser on wallB (B2). Measure the dis-tancesof themarked pointsA1-A2 and B1-B2.Calculate the difference of the twomeas-urements.

|(A1 - A2) - (B1 - B2)| <=2mm

If the difference doesnot exceed 2mm, then theLeica Lino iswithin tolerance.

Should your Leica Lino be outside of the spe-cified tolerance, please contact a local dealeror an authorised Leica Geosystemsdis-tributor.

Accuracy Check

Vertical plumb points

Checking the accuracy of the upper plumbpoint:

Place the lock switch in the "Unlocked" position(see Levelling lock). Set up the laser on its tripod towallmount bracket near point A1 at aminimum dis-tance of 1.5m from point B1. The horizontal laseris aligned in direction 1. Mark the laser pointsA1and B1with a pin.

Checking the accuracy of the lower plumbpoint:

Rotate the instrument by180° so that it points inthe opposite direction 2 to direction 1. Adjust theinstrument so that the laser beam hits point A1exactly. If point B2 is no further than 2mm awayfrom point B1, then the Leica Lino iswithin tol-erance.

Should your Leica Lino be outside of the spe-cified tolerance, please contact a local dealeror an authorised Leica Geosystemsdis-tributor.

Accuracy Check

Perpendicularity horizontal points

Place lock switch in "Unlocked" position (see Lev-elling lock). Mark a reference point (P1) approx.5m from the walls and position the lower plumbpoint exactly on it. Align the crosshair to the leftwall andmark the intersection point (a1) approx.on the same hight like P1 to the wall. Shortly aftermark the right-hand perpendicular beam (b1) onthe front wall.

Then rotate the device exactly 90° clockwisearound the plumb point P1 and position the left-

hand perpendicular beam to the existing ref-erence point a1. Make sure that the upper plumbpoint is still exactly on the reference P1. Checkafterwards the new reference point b2 with the oldreference b1 on the front wall. The deviationbetween the two pointsmaybemax. 3mm.Markthe new position of the right-hand perpendicularbeam to the right wallwith c1.

Afterwards turn the device exactly 180° aroundthe plumb point P1 and position the right-hand per-pendicular beam to the existing reference pointa1. Make sure that the upper plumb point is stillexactly on the reference P1. Thenmark the left-hand beam to the right wall andmark it with c2. Fin-allymeasure the difference between the formerreference point c1 and the new point c2. The devi-ationmaybemax. 3mm between these twopoints.

Should your Leica Lino be outside of the spe-cified tolerance, please contact a local dealeror an authorised Leica Geosystemsdis-tributor.

Never immerse the device in water.Wipe off dirtwith a damp soft cloth. Never use aggressivecleaning agents or solvents. Treat the instrumentwith the same care that you would apply to bin-oculars or a camera. Dropping or violent shakingof the instrument maydamage it. Check the instru-ment for anydamage before using it. Check thelevelling accuracyof the instrument regularly.

To warranty the best precision and visibility pleaseclean the optics of your device regularly. There-fore blow off the dust from the glasseswithouttouching the opticswith your fingers. If necessaryuse a damp soft cloth and a little bit of pure alcohol.

To avoid wrongmeasurements also clean youradapters regularly. This could be done also by theproposed recommendation. Especially the inter-face between the adapter and device shouldalwaysbe clean to enable easy rotation. To cleanthemagnetic surface you could use compressedair or modelling clay.

If the equipment get wet alwaysdry it (max.70°C/158°F) before repacking it into the case.
