L’equilibrio virtuoso fra rigidità, comfort e resistenza deriva da una sapiente combinazione di fibre di carbonio con differenti specificità. Nel telaio di Zero.7 le parti più sollecitate sono realizzate con la fibra super-resistente MR60H, dotata di un modulo elastico pari a 60 tonnella-te per millimetro quadrato. Con questa fibra si ottiene la rigidità desiderata usando meno materiale rispetto ad un modulo più basso, a vantaggio della leggerezza.

The perfect balance between stiffness, comfort, and strength comes from a well selected combination of carbon fibers with different properties. In the Zero.7 frame, the most stressed parts are reinforced with the super-strong MR60H fiber, that can withstand 60 tons of pressure per square millimeter. This fiber allows us to obtain the desired stiffness while using less material, thereby reducing weight.

strati del carbonio di un materiale “viscoelastico” di cui non è possibile rivelare la composizione, ne accresce la capacità di assor-

Zero.7 marks the implementation of an exclusive new Wilier Triestina technology: S.E.I. Film (Special Elastic Infiltrated). The

injection of a proprietary viscoelastic film between layers of carbon increases vibration absorption and impact resistance, there-

fore making the frame safer and more comfortable. This new material has already been widely tested in the aeronautical and

automotive industries with excellent results. It is now being applied in the construction of bicycles for the first time.

S.E.I. Film benefits: - Increases impact resistance by 35%, making the frame stronger and safer.

- Increases inter-laminar shear strength by 18%, which reduces de-lamination of carbon layers.

- Increases 3 point flexing strength by 12%, which improves crack resistance.

These benefits also translate into weight savings. The presence of this film allows us to use less intermediate modulus carbon,

which had previously been necessary to provide some flex. Less material equals lighter frame.L’aspetto esteriore non dice tutto sulla qualità di un composito di carbonio. Determinanti per la qualità del telaio sono l’omogeneità degli spessori e l’assenza di di-fetti nella superficie interna. Per arrivare a questo, Wilier Triestina ha introdotto la tecnica costruttiva LIT (Large Inflatable Tube), che compatta le fibre preimpregnate contro le pareti dello stampo, rendendo assolutamente uniformi gli spessori del carbonio.

The outward appearance of a carbon composite does not reveal everything about its quality. There are two crucial aspects that must be tightly controlled: the uniformity of the thickness of the carbon, and the absence of defects on the inner surface. To ensure top quality, Wilier Triestina has implemented the LIT (Large Inflatable Tube) con-struction technique, which compacts the pre-preg fibers against the walls of the mold, assuring an absolutely uniform thickness of the carbon.

Ciò che chiamiamo “carbonio” è in realtà un mix di fibre di carbonio e resina epossidica. Per ridurre al minimo il rischio di rotture siamo intervenuti sul composito inse-rendo nella resina nanoparticelle a bassissima densità di ossido di zinco (ZnO). L’effetto di questi corpuscoli è sorprendente: aumenta la compattezza del composito e, di conseguenza, anche la resistenza agli urti.

To minimize the risk of breakage, we use a very low density Zinc Oxide nanoparticle epoxy resin in our com-posites. This resin also makes the carbon more compact by filling in the microscopic spaces between the fibers more thoroughly.

BB386EVO è il nuovo sistema integrato per il movi-mento centrale firmato Wilier Triestina - FSA. BB386EVO is the new Wilier Triestina - FSA designed in-tegrated bottom bracket. The box that contains the BB is wider than most at 86.5 mm, and has a diameter of 46 mm to accept a particularly light and stiff carbon crankset with a 30 mm aluminum spindle. Testing has shown that it increases stiffness by 30% and reduces dispersion of power to nearly Zero. It is also compatible with most prominent traditional cranksets.

Una delle peculiarità di questo telaio è lo sterzo a diame-tri differenziati. La parte superiore misura 1”1/8, men-tre la base è da 1”1/4. Questa particolare differenzia-zione dei due diametri, visibile ma non particolarmente accentuata, ci ha permesso di ottenere un bilanciamento ottimale fra la rigidità e la manovrabilità della bicicletta, con un occhio di riguardo alla leggerezza e al comfort.
