• Established minimum wage and maximum working hours

• Limits the number of hours and the times of day that youth under age 18 can work

• Prohibits full-time employment of children under age 16 except by their parents

• Prevents those under age 18 from working in hazardous occupations such as– Driving fork lifts or backhoes– Handling dangerous gas or liquids– Operating dangerous appliances

Family and Medical Leave Act

• Requires covered employers to grant eligible employees up to a total of 12 weeks of unpaid leave within any twelve-month period

care– Care of immediate family member with a serious

health condition– Serious health condition of the employee

resulting in inability to work
