How to apply and payment information

Training bursaryTrainees from the UK and other EU countries on postgraduate courses which lead to qualified teacher status (QTS) at institutions in England may apply for a training bursary, depending on the ITT subject they are studying, as long as they do not already hold QTS and are not employed as teachers in a school or further/higher education college. Please visit www.leedstrinity.ac.uk/studentfinance for more information. Trainees on a one year full-time course receive payment in ten equal monthly instalments starting in October 2012 and ending in July 2013.

If you are entitled to a bursary, please complete and return the enclosed PGCE training bursary form before registration (send to the Finance Office at Leeds Trinity) or bring it with you to registration. To ensure timely payment, it is important to complete in full all details on the training bursary form. Any omissions or incorrect information could delay your payment. Please also bring to registration proof of your bank account details so that any errors on the form can be rectified immediately.

Bursary payments cannot be made until a student is fully registered at Leeds Trinity and has signed the ITT bursary declaration form. Any student not fully registered by 1 October 2012 will have their payment delayed until they have completed full registration. Payment is made around the 7th of each month, however you are advised to check your bank statements carefully.

Tuition feesTrainees from the UK and other EU countries will be eligible to take out a tuition fee loan to cover the full £9,000.

You should have already applied for your tuition fee loan. If you haven’t, please visit: www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance and apply for tuition fee support as soon as possible. If you do not apply for a loan for tuition fees you will be invoiced for the fees, and if you apply late you risk not receiving the full support you are entitled to. When applying, please ensure that you state the name of the institution as being Leeds Trinity University College Six weeks after applying, if you have not heard the outcome of your application call the Student Loans Company on 0845 300 5090 to check up - they could be waiting for supporting evidence. Keep your ART ID and passwords in a safe place as you will need these to make any enquiry. If you need a CRB or health check, or need to provide certificates as a pre requisite for your course then make sure you do this as early as possible. If these requirements are not met by the time you start your course then your loans and grants cannot be paid to you. Tuition fees are payable by 1 October 2012. If you are a UK student currently in default with the Student Loans Company regarding a previous student loan you are not eligible for further loans for tuition fees or loans or grants for living costs. You will be invoiced privately for tuition fees, due by 1 October 2012. You may apply to pay in five monthly instalments to commence on 1 October 2012 and ending on 1 February 2013. Please contact the Finance Office if you wish to pay by this method.

Loans and grants for living costsYou should apply for financial assistance with living costs at the same time as applying for your tuition fee loan. Payments will be made in three instalments during the academic year.
