MINUTES OF 8/29/19 Dr. Brown asked for approval of the Trauma District Minutes of 08/29/19.
A motion was made by Jessica Carter Peer to approve the Trauma District Minutes of 08/29/19.
The motion was seconded by Diane Champion and carried with no opposition.
Trauma District
Financials Ben Spence, Chief Financial Officer reviewed the Trauma District financials FYTD as of September 30, 2019. Discussion ensued.
Operations Report Michael Marcus, RN, Trauma Program Manager presented the Trauma Operations Report. Discussion ensued. Board Members expressed gratitude to the trauma department for their services to our patients and the community.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PURPOSE: To provide for the creation of a Regional Advisory Committee on Trauma Services (“Advisory Committee”) comprised of community representatives to serve only in a fact-finding and advisory capacity to the Lee County Trauma Services District Board of Directors (“District Board”) and to provide for the appointment of said members. The Regional Advisory Committee collaborates with the Trauma Center to advocate for and support injury prevention education and outreach throughout the Trauma District regional communities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- POLICY: The Lee County Trauma Services District (“Trauma District”) shall create a Regional Advisory Committee on Trauma Services in order to secure appropriate community and regional involvement. The Trauma District Chair and the President shall have the authority to recommend persons for appointment to serve on the Advisory Committee who are not Directors of the Lee County Trauma Services District. Such persons shall be entitled to vote at the committee level, however, the District Board shall retain all of the District Board’s decision-making authority. The District Board shall appoint a District Board member to serve as a Co-Chair of the Advisory Committee. PROCEDURE:
1) District Directors, the President, members of Senior Leadership of Lee Memorial Health System, as well as any person from the community may nominate a person or persons for appointment as a community representative to serve on the Advisory Committee. All nominations must be accompanied by a written resume of the nominee’s education, training and experience.
2) From the nominees, the District Board Chair and the President shall recommend those
persons to be appointed, and the District Board Chair, with the approval of the District Board, shall appoint not more than fifteen persons to serve as community representatives on the Advisory Committee in a voting capacity.

Chair with the District Board Member appointee. The Co-Chairs shall have the responsibility to convene Advisory Committee meetings and to organize and coordinate Advisory Committee activities.
4) In addition to the community representatives recommended by the District Board Chair
and the President and approved by the District Board, the District Board Chair shall appoint a member of the District Board who shall serve as a Co-Chair of the Advisory Committee and act as liaison to the District Board and Lee Memorial Health System in advising both bodies of the activities of the Advisory Committee.
5) Five of the fifteen members appointed shall come from each of the following counties in
Southwest Florida: Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, and Lee. The remaining ten members shall be at large appointees and shall reside in any one of the five counties.
6) Community representatives so appointed shall serve a term of one fiscal year, and may
be reappointed if recommended by the District Board Chair and the President, and approved by the District Board. A community representative appointed after October 1 of any year shall serve until the 30th of September following such appointment.
7) Community representatives shall receive no compensation for their services. With the
approval of the District Board, community representatives may be reimbursed for travel expenses in accordance with the provisions of section 112.061, Fla. Stat., and the District Board policy on travel reimbursement, when traveling to meetings or functions outside the community representative’s county of residence at the direction or invitation of the District Board Chair and the President.
8) This Policy shall not be construed to require that any individual who is nominated be
recommended or appointed as a community representative, and all recommendations of community representatives shall be at the discretion of the District Board Chair and the President, and appointments at the discretion of the District Chair and District Board.
9) Community representatives shall serve at the pleasure of the District Board Chair, and
may be dismissed by the District Board Chair from service on the Advisory Committee at any time, for any reason or for no reason, without recourse.
10) The District Board may, at its sole discretion, and at any time, dissolve the Advisory
Committee.
