ANOTHER FIELD TRIP IS SCHEDULED!

9th Annual Iron Chef Elm City Competition!

Sunday, 5/1/16, at Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, 155 Temple Street, New Haven, CT

Competing this year will be three well respected chefs. Jocelyn Maminta, WTNH-TV’s

Award nominated medical reporter, will emcee. Tickets are $45-Bus departs @ 10:00 am.

During the competition, seniors are able to walk around the “kitchen stadium” and ob-

serve the different chefs as they prepare their dishes. The event’s format is based on the

Food Network’s “Iron Chef” program and features culinary experts as judges. This

Competition promises to be exciting from start to finish—with four acclaimed chefs and a

panel of esteemed judges! The chefs are provided with a list of possible “secret”

ingredients a week before the event. At the competition the “secret” ingredient is

unveiled and the chefs are required to create their dishes using the secret!

Center, Animal Control Officers and other civilian employees of the department.

COMMISSION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS The Commission for Senior Citizens meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 1:30p.m. The purpose of the Commission is to

act as advocate and coordinator of services for all Ledyard Seniors and to establish policies for the operation and use of the Senior

Center. The meeting is open to everyone. The next Commission meetings will be Wednesday, March 23rd and April 27, 2016

SENIOR CLUB LUNCH On Wednesdays, unless otherwise noted, the Senior Citizens Club meets at the Ledyard Senior Center for lunch.

The Lunches are prepared by volunteer groups, to whom we are very grateful, and are always wonderful. Join the Senior Club and get involved in discussion, listen to special guest speakers, and have an enjoyable time.

Senior Transportation Information Call us at 860-464-0471

The Ledyard Senior Center offers daily transportation to the Center for activities including lunch, along with rides to medical appoint-ments and other necessities according to the schedule below. All individuals using our transportation must complete an annual transportation form. A wheelchair lift is available. Please be aware that the Senior Center does not provide assistance to and from the vehicle. Persons must be able to: Travel without assistance, wait outside for 10 minutes, climb three 12-inch steps or use the wheelchair lift. The Senior Center cannot provide rides home from a medical appointment/procedure that involves general anesthetics.

Drivers can not schedule appointments. *Bank runs and shopping require reservations in advance* Round trip donations are $1.00 within Ledyard and Gales Ferry and $2.00 for out of town. We provide transportation to Sub Base medi-cal appointments and the pharmacy for people with a Military/Base I.D.
