Principal’s Message
December has snuck up on us and the season of love and good will for all is just
around the corner. Our students are also busy getting ready for the Christmas
concert and are working hard each day in music class as well as extra lunch time
practices! As we think about and do all the fun things that go along with this
season, it is important to remember those who are less fortunate than us. This
year we will once again be collecting toys for Santa’s Helpers. Day One of our
“Five Days of Christmas” starts on Monday. Please look in our newsletter, if you
are able, on what and how to contribute.
Our ECS students will be having their own concert on December 15th, at 7:00 pm.
Grades one to six will present their concerts on Wednesday, December 16th, at
1:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets are ready in the office. We will be doing a silver
collection at all of the concerts with funds being donated to the Stollery Chil-
dren’s Hospital and Leduc Estates Music Program.
Parent-teacher interviews were a huge success. We view this as a critical part
of the educational process. We appreciate the time and effort of all parents
that came to meet with their child’s teacher. We saw over 88% of parents this
term. This is always a great opportunity to be involved in decisions about your
child’s education. A special thank-you to our grade six students, who are
“Leaders in Action”, that greeted families at the front door.
The school district will begin kindergarten registrations on Monday, January 18th.
Next year we will be offering English and French Immersion kindergarten pro-
grams. Registration packages for Leduc Estates and West Haven will be available
at the school. Our school will offer the kindergarten programs in the morning
and will only offer afternoon programming if enrollment warrants it.
Enjoy the holiday season and may it be filled with much love, laughter and family!
Merry Christmas,
Carla Fisher

Estates School.

A Note of Thanks
A big thank you to our Remem-
brance Day Committee and students
for making this year’s observation a
special time of tribute.
A big thank you to Mrs. Ankerstein
for organizing and running the book
fair. A special thank you to parents
for supporting the book fair.
To all of our moms, dads and ex-
tended family who come in to help
on a regular basis, in classrooms,
recycling our milk cartons, doing
microwave and hot lunches, your
help is truly appreciated.
Thank you to our volunteers who
come in every week to read with our
grade 1 students.
To our outstanding staff who have
worked tirelessly on this year’s
Christmas concert, the hours and
hours of painting, organizing and
music arranging will be enjoyed by
all!
We would like to thank the Tanguay
& Boychuk families for their dona-
tion of clothing to the infirmary.
Thank you to the Lightning Earle
family for their donation of
books to the library.
Overdue School Fee’s
Currently there are fifty eight students who
have past due Black Gold School Fees. These
fees must be paid immediately. You can access
your Parent PowerSchool Account to pay online
or contact the school office to arrange pay-
ment. You are able to make smaller or monthly
payments in your PowerSchool Account.
Christmas Concert
Our annual Christmas concert will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at 1:30 PM (doors will
open at 1:00 PM) and again at 7:00 PM (doors will open at 6:30 PM). Our concert is entitled ‘The
ABC’s of Christmas”. We hope that everyone enjoys this concert as we are truly blessed by the
Christmas season.
As in the past few years, in order to keep within the capacity guidelines established for our gymna-
sium, we have gone with a ticket format. Each family has been allocated two (2) tickets to our even-
ing performance and four (4) tickets for the afternoon performance. Both performances are iden-
tical. The afternoon is not a dress rehearsal. Tickets are available for pickup in the office begin-
ning December 1. If you prefer, you may call the school or send a note in the agenda and we will
send these home via your child. All tickets must be picked up prior to coming to the concert. Dead-
line for pick up is December 15th. All tickets are numbered and they will be checked at the door.
All people (including babies and toddlers) require a ticket as they count in the capacity numbers.
We do not want to contravene the fire code and we absolutely want to be able to evacuate our gym
safely in the event of an emergency.
I want to thank everyone for their patience and willingness to explore alternate ways of ensuring
that our concert is a success.
Additional Christmas Concert Information
Parents who are not attending the evening performance – we still need your child here.
Please have them at the school by 6:45 PM. The concert is approximately 60 minutes in
length so students should be picked up by 8:00 PM.
This year, half of the money that is received from our silver collection will be donated to
the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The other half will be put back into the music program.
Each year, our grade 6 students look forward to deciding where to donate this money and we
always appreciate hearing their rationale. On behalf of our students and these local chari-
ties, we thank you in advance for your generosity.
ECS Christmas Concert
December 15th at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
This year the kindergarten classes will be entertain-
ing you with songs and poems to celebrate the joyous
season. Please join us with your family for an evening
of fun. Each class will be performing and will then sit
and enjoy the performance of the other classes. We
look forward to seeing you and your relatives there.
Please keep sick

Lets work together
to stay healthy.
Wash with soap
and water regularly and stay
home if you are ill.

Winter Boot Mix-ups
We are finding that a lot of students are acci-
dentally taking the wrong winter boots when
they are getting ready to go outside for recess
or home from school. When checking the boot
racks, we discovered that there are a lot of
identical boots on our shelves. Please make sure
that your child's name is printed on the boots.
It would be a good idea to label all of your
child's outerwear. Our lost and found bin is get-
ting full!
LRC Wristband Challenge
This month’s winners are Alyssa L, William A,
Sadie G & Paige H.
Once again this year we are fortunate to have Cora Res-
taurant donate monthly celebratory lunches for students
and staff members. At Leduc Estates School we use this
as an opportunity to acknowledge students who demon-
strate a wide variety of strengths. This month's winners
were Max, Izzy & Riley in 5H! Thank you Cora's Leduc!
December Bake Sale
December 9th
(hosted by KDAM & KLPM)
Just a reminder that items are
now $0.50 each.
Supervision Reminder
We have many students who are arriving at school prior to supervision commencing at 8:25 AM.
Some of these students are arriving as early as 8:10. Please do not drop your students off prior to
8:25 in order that they can be adequately supervised.
Please be advised that school supervision ends at 3:15 PM. Please pick up your children promptly af-
ter school. All students are required to go home and “check in” with their parents before playing in
the parks.
The boys basketball team has been working very hard in prac-
tices and that hard work has been paying off in games. The
boys have won both of their league games so far against River-
view Middle School and St. Ben’s Elementary and also won the
Tap-15 Tournament at Leduc Composite High School this past
weekend. The boys are looking forward to continuing to learn
and improve as the season progresses. Great job boys!
Sliding Hill – Crazy Carpets
Our students love to slide during the recess
breaks. However, due to our significant increase in
enrolment and safety concerns we have scheduled
specific days for our students. This year, we will
only allow students to bring crazy carpets to slide
on. The large foam sliders and saucers are too
large for us to store during the school day. We
appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Please
note that these are stored in bins found near the
exits. Students and parents are responsible for
ensuring these go home at the end of the season.
Winter is Here! **************
Please make sure you child is dressed
for the weather. Ensure your child has
a touque, mitts, gloves, snow boots,
snow pants, a warm winter jacket etc.
-20 is the temperature at which stu-
dents stay indoors.

Leduc Estates “Five Days of Christmas” Celebration December 7– 11th
Each year our grade 6 Leaders-in-Action group coordinates our “Five Days of Christmas” campaign.
This activity is designed to provide leadership skills for our students while supporting our local com-
munity.
Each day from December 7th to December 11th has been designated as a different theme. All of our
students are encouraged to bring NEW items based on the theme that can be donated to a local
charity. These items are displayed for the week in our main atrium and then sent to either Leduc
Santa’s Helpers or the Leduc Food Bank.
The following is the theme for each day:
Monday, December 7th: ‘Mouthful Monday’
(Includes: Christmas treats, all other non-perishable food items)
Tuesday, December 8th: ‘Toys on Tuesday’
(Includes toys, games, puzzles, stuffed animals, play dough, crafts, books, school supplies, magazines
etc)
Wednesday, December 9th: ‘Welcome Wee Ones Wednesday’
(Includes: diapers, sleepers, baby food, formula, other baby related items)
Thursday, December 10th: ‘Threads on Thursday’

We encourage families and students to be creative and participate in as many of the days as they
