A brief introduction

Vezalux B.V. was founded in 1991 as a professional lighting products supplier. We have a team of professionals with many years of experience in lighting industry and enjoy a good reputation as a reliable partner. Since 2000 Vezalux B.V. has a certi�ed quality management system conform NEN-EN-ISO 9001:2008, by TUV Netherlands, registration no. 4181/6.1. Vezalux started to import LED lamps from Civilight since 2006.

We focus on research, developement, production and management of indoor LED Lighting products, with our sales o�ce and warehouse in Wernhout (The Netherlands), the Civilight European headquarters and warehouse in Eschborn (Germany), Civilight sales headquarters in Shenzhen and four factories in Shenzhen, Foshan, Jiangsu and Qidong (Shanghai). Civilight has a distribution warehouse in the USA as well.

We o�er a wide range of LED lighting products: LED spotlights, bulbs, downlights, �oodlights, panels and intergrated modules for �xtures. Civilight run their factories according to ISO90001, ISO140001, BSCI and GS restrictions. Our products are in complience with CE, VDE, UL, DLC, Energystar and other standards. These products are widely exported to Europe, North America, Middle East and other regions in the world.

Good quality is the only condition for our eternal development. We devote to o�er high quality products and service to all customers, as well as to supply customized products for speci�c demands. Explanation of designationsLighting designations• Lumens (Lm): Lumens measure how much light you are getting from a bulb. More lumens means it's a brighter light; fewer lumens means it's a dimmer light. Lumens let you buy the amount of light you want. So when buying your new bulbs, think lumens, not watts.

The brightness, or lumen levels, of the lights in your home may vary widely, so here's a rule of thumb:

Replace a 75W bulb with an energy-saving bulb that gives you about 1100 lumens Replace a 60W bulb with an energy-saving bulb that gives you about 800 lumens Replace a 40W bulb with an energy-saving bulb that gives you about 450 lumens. Replace a 25W bulb with an energy-saving bulb that gives you about 250 lumens.

• Correlated Color Temperature (CCT): LEDs can emit light of an intended color without using any color �lters as traditional lighting methods need. This is more e�cient and can lower initial costs.

Color temperature has been described most simply as a method of describing the color characteristics of light, usually either warm (yellowish) or cool (bluish), and measuring it in degrees of Kelvin (°K).

It's connotations to any part of the color temperature chart are strictly visually based. Lights with a correlated color temperature do not have an equal radiation at all wavelengths in their spectrum. As a result, they can have disproportionate levels (both high & low) when rendering certain colors. These light sources are measured in their ability to accurately render all colors of their spectrum, in a scale is called the Color Rendering Index (CRI).

• Color Rendering Index (CRI): A simple de�nition of Color Rendering Index (CRI) would measure the ability of a light source to accurately render all frequencies of its color spectrum when compared to a perfect reference light of a similar type (color temperature). It is rated on a scale from 1-100 (Ra). The lower the CRI rating, the less accurately colors will be reproduced.

With lower CRI ratings these sources may also have too much green or magenta in their spectrums. An acceptable Color Rendering Index level for professional imaging is considered to be 90 or above.

• Gamut Area Index (GAI): CRI is the color rendering index, and is not always re�ective of a source’s ability to render color. Sources with the same CRI can have di�erent spectral power distribution (SPD), and therefore render colors di�erently. For example, two sources, both with a CRI of 80, might have di�erent short and long wavelengths, so that one source will render reds better, while the other source will render blues more vividly.

Because CRI has limited ability to predict a person’s perception, another factor must be taken into account to determine a good luminous environment. That factor is called Gamut Area Index, or GAI. GAI is determined by plotting the chromaticity values of the eight color swatches used in CRI de�nition for a light source.

To ensure a good lighting design, designers should choose sources with high CRI and high GAI. The combination of naturalness provided by high CRI and vividness provided by high GAI ensure high viewer satisfaction for warm and cool sources, both at high and low levels of illumination, for either general illumination or accent lighting.

To achieve the best lighting design, one must also take the application into account. The question “what is being illuminated?” is critically important when choosing a light source. If the object being illuminated is red, you would want to specify a source that will render reds more vividly. But if the application is unknown, or will change over time, choosing a source with high CRI (90 or greater) and a high GAI (80-100) is generally the best approach.

• Standard Deviation of Color Matching (SDCM): If we look at the CIE color space often used to de�ne and describe white light, we can see a black line running through the center; this is called the black body locus. As long as the light stays on or about the line, our eyes perceive it as white. If the white light shifts above the line, it will tend to display a green tint; if it shifts below the line, it will display a pink tint. The measurement of visible di�erence is described as a MacAdam Ellipse.

The smaller the shift along the MacAdams Ellipse, the noticeable the color shift will be to the human eye.

The black body locus de�nes white light within the CIE color space. The measurement of visible di�erence in color shift within the CIE color space is typiccaly describes as a MacAdam Ellipse.

Standard Deviation of Color Matching (SDCM) data, commonly referred to as “MacAdam Ellipses” are named after light and color studies conducted by David Lewis MacAdam. Those studies concluded that the average human eye’s color discrimination threshold is approximately three times the standard deviation (SDCM) for a speci�c chromaticity value. Therefore, a target value for less color sensitive applications such as ambient lighting may prove acceptable with an initial range from 5 to 7 SDCM (5 to 7-step MacAdam). All Civilight LED lamps have 5 SDCM (5-steps MacAdam).

• Luminous Intensity (cd): The luminous intensity of a light source Luminous Intensity and Beam Angle is the power of light. It is de�ned in a 345Lm 345Lm 345Lm

• Flicker values: Until recently lighting engineers paid little attention to the e�ects of imperceptible �icker. However, toughening of health and safety rules, better research, and increasing complaints from sta� working in o�ces illuminated by ubiquitous �uorescent tubes have led to calls for action.

But without a de�nition of �icker, who’s to say whether one light source is better than another?

Flicker percent is a relative measure of the cyclic variation in the output of a light source (i.e. percent modulation). The �icker index assumes values from 0 to 1.0, with 0 for steady light output. Higher values indicate an increased possibility of noticeable lamp �icker, as well as stroboscopic e�ect.
