Kuna Date: Wed. 7:30 - 9:00 am Lecture Hall: WEI-1051 Audience: 2.CMS, 8./9. MB, 8./9. FWK, 8./9. WWT PhD students SFB 799/920 Exercises: Thu. 16:00 - 17:30 pm, WEI-1116, F. Rabold (german) Fri. 9:15 - 10:45 am, WEI-1116, L. Zybell (english) Attention: First lecture starts on April 8th 2015! Aim of the class: The theoretical foundations of fracture mechanics are presented. The essential fracture mechanical loading parameters are introduced for linear elastic and elastic-plastic materials under static, dynamic and cyclic loading. In order to calculate these loading parameters numerically for cracks in structural components and materials, suitable Finite-Element-Techniques are explained. The application of fracture mechanical concepts to assess safety and life time of structural components is demonstrated by means of practical examples.
