Stage 2 PLANNING CONCEPTS

Following your tutorial you should select and develop theproposal further. To do this you should investigate threedifferent ways you could approach the design of an interiorfor that product. You can work at scale 1:100 to 1:50.

In order that you are able to fully explore all of thepossibilities of your ideas, you are required to use a rangeof experimental design tools that explore the spatialqualities that you perceive to be important within the siteand for the end users. There will be three tasks toundertake alongside this each with two contrasting themesas identified below:

MATERIALS

Develop two contrasting proposals for the

materials palette for your scheme. These shouldbe presented in a way that is more than just alist of materials, but which communicates thebalance, quality and relationship you are

proposing between the materials.

What is Material Palette?

The need of material board/palette Colour scheme

Neutrals, calm,

Fresh, bright, cheerful Warm, passion, vibrate

Texture and Pattern (material & finishes) The need to relate to the surface.

Balance and shade, add depth. Contrast and variety.

Reflect light or absorbed.

Function (sound etc) & maintenance.

GRAPHICS AND COLOUR

You are required to develop two proposals for thegraphic and colour palette in response to thecontext and the site. You should present these ina way that is more than just a list of typefacesand colours and that communicates the balance,quality and relationship you are proposing

between these aspects of the design.

LIGHTING

You are required to produce two contrastingproposals for the lighting which may definediffering areas within the site in response tohuman need, operational need and the generalneeds of the site. You are to advance your ideasrelating to the immediate environments using

appropriate CAD software.
