Introduction
Leave is a provision to stay away from work for genuine reasons with
prior approval of the authorities. It may be granted for a casual purpose
or a planned activity, on medical grounds or in extra-ordinaryconditions. Leave cannot be claimed as a matter of right.
These policies will be reviewed and modified periodically. When using
this Policy, please remember that while we have attempted to make it as
comprehensive as possible, there might arise situations which are not
dwelt upon and hence you might need to seek assistance from your
supervisor or Human Resources (HR). Kotsons reserves the right tomodify this policy as per business requirement.
Applicability
These leave rules shall be applicable to all the permanent
Employees/Workman
Scheduling (Sanctioning)
It is necessary that leave/s are scheduled in advance and in a manner that
balances both the individuals desires and Kotsons need for appropriate
coverage on teams and projects.
All Employees/Workman on projects should schedule leaves with the
prior approval of their Supervisor/ H.O.D
Because it is not a certainty that all your leave requests will be granted,
it is strongly recommended that you obtain approval for leave plans in
advance.

Out of courtesy to your co-workers, please notify your Supervisor /HOD
immediately of any change in leave plans.
Leaves are given on the basis of the calendar year (JanuaryDecember).
If you have joined during the middle of the year, your leaves will be pro-
rated from the date you start employment through December 31 of that
calendar year.

Leave Category Determination
Nature of Cause of Leave will be the main criteria for deciding the type
of leaves to be given. (E.L., S.L., C.L.).
E.L. and C.L. can be combined subject to availability of the C.L.
Two CL can be given in month subject to availability if leave has not
being consumed.
SL cannot be combined.
Sandwich holidays to be counted as leave.
The employee is required to apply for Leave in advance, unless in case
of emergencies, he shall submit the leave approval request to the
Supervisor/HOD within 48 hours of resuming duty.
Earned leaves/ Privilege leaves
These are the leaves which are earned in the previous year and enjoyed
in the preceding years. These are also known as privilege leave this can
be carry forward for the quatum upto the total of three years maximum
45 days.
You can accumulate/ carry forward your earned leaves up to a maximum
of 45 days only.

Every employee who has worked for a period of 240 days or more in afactory during a calendar year shall be entitled for EL during the
subsequent calendar year.
If an Employee/Workman takes leave during which a Weekend occurs,then those particular date(s) will be counted as Earned Leave.
20 days working in a month entitles for a days paid leave to every
employee.
Formula for Calculating EL which are earned in the previous year and
enjoyed in the preceding years

Casual Leave
Casual leave can be granted for one day at a time. It means persons
cannot get two casual leave continuously in a month. But he can take it
on different days if credit to his account
Casual Leave is calculated annually for the calendar year (January-December).
There is no accumulation or carry forward of Casual Leave
EL to be credit = Number of Days Worked (Present)

If employee have joined during the middle of the year, Sick leave will be
given on the pro-rated basis.
Sick Leave cannot be carry forward for the next year
3 or more days of Sick Leave will require a medical certificate from a
qualified and registered medical practitioner.
