Learning and Learning and PerformancePerformance
InnovationInnovation
My passion is learning and performance innovation
My students require an integration of my research into my teaching to provide first-hand experience with reading, interpreting, and creating new theories and practices that guide learning and performance.
I research, teach and provide service in the area of learning and performance innovations for education and the workforce.
This integration provides a seamless transition from the theories of the classroom into the everyday innovative process and practices of the corporate and educational workplaces.

Self Learning
Models of self-learning are numerous and research in this area is vast, yet the key to learning is “self”
Allen, J., Bracey, P., & Gavrilova, M. (2010)
self-directed, self-regulation, self-planned, self-teaching, self-educated, self-management, self-guided, self-instruction, self-reflection, self-evaluation
EnhancementWork-based LearningProvides opportunities to achieve employment-related competencies, and often takes place with classroom learning in the form of work experience or workplace mentoring.
Problem-based LearningTeaches curriculum concepts through a project during which students enhance their own learning through inquiry and research.
Service LearningEncompasses the process of learning through the experience of rendering service to address problems within the school or community, and actively reflecting upon the experience.

LeadershipThis I believe to be true:
Leadership is earned through trust not through a given job title.
Leaders are both formal and informal.
A leader of scholars must first be a champion their unit: . . . must embrace shared governance.
. . . must have vision.
. . . must inspire the faculty and convince administration.
. . . must lead by example.
. . . must guide and nurture young scholars.
. . . must be able to observe, diagnose and remedy in an ambiguous
environment of change.
. . . must manage for efficiency and while supporting innovation.
Personal Mission Statement
My mission is to balance the goals of my personal and professional life while continually gaining new knowledge. This effort to balance my goals should not dilute the quality of my goals, but should enhance the quality of life for my family, co-workers, friends, and students.
