» Almost half of adults in England (49%) have entry-level maths skills - at best the level of maths you would be expected to have by age 11.

» NIACE Inquiry into Numeracy in 2011 found that adults should be able to learn maths in a way that is more relevant to their everyday lives.

» To help more people improve their maths skills, the Maths4us initiative brought together over 20 national organisations to take strategic action on adult maths.

» Partnership managed wide range of activities, including: training 8,000 Maths Champions to support other adults; piloting an online numeracy assessment tool; Improving the quality of teaching and learning.

How can we reach the leaners who would benefit most? How can online resources be presented in a way that is accessible and supported? How can teaching be developed to encourage the use of new and emerging resources and pedagogies? Learners accesses online resources through skilled intermediaries. Intermediaries are part of an online community.
