I can read words with the long o word. So far we have learned the short and long vowel sounds for ‘a, e, and i’. We will be looking at the long vowel sound of ‘o’ this week. Watch the Teacher Video: Long o to learn the different ways we know a word has a long o sound. Turn to the next page in your phonics booklet (first picture is a rope). Read the words in each box and circle the word that matches to the picture. On the bottom of the page, read through the sentences and get your pencil crayons ready to colour. Submit your work on SeeSaw. Math Resource: Roll & Race Addition (Are They Equal? Addition Facts), dice, number line/counters (20), Video (Telling Time for Kids: O’clock), Money, Measurement & Time Booklet Learning Targets: I can solve addition facts to 20. I can identify the hour hand on the analog clock. Continue your practice in addition through the use of the Roll & Race sheets. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Roll the die and solve both addition problems in that box. Are they equal? I can read the story independently and have a good understanding of the story.❑ Read through the story Make a Tent. ❑ Cut out the sentence strips below. Go back to your story Making a Tent and sequence the events of the story, laying your sentence strips in order on a piece of construction paper. Before you glue them down, read through the sentences to make sure it makes sense. Glue the sentence strips down.❑ After our Meet: Read the story independently.❑ Read the story to a family member or friend.

Resource: Phonics BookletLearning Target: I can identify when to read a word with the short o sound or a long o sound.❑ Do you remember the different ways that a word is spelled that tells us that we need to use the long o sound. Remember when two vowels go walking the first one does the talking. That is true when we see ‘oa’, ‘oe’, We also have the long o sound when we have ‘ow’ or ‘o_e’. ❑ On the next phonics page, in your booklet, read both words in the box. Circle the word that sounds like the picture in the box. ❑ Read the sentences at the bottom of the page and choose a bold word from underneath that fits in the blank.

Complete pages 146, 147, 148 in your Money, Measurement & Time Booklet (skip p. 145 - we will complete that together at our Google Meet tomorrow!). Submit on Seesaw.❑ Want to learn some interesting information about the history of time, ask a parent or older sibling to read the story “It’s About Time” on Raz Kids to find out other ways people used to tell time! Did you ever think about going camping but you did not have a tent? Here is one way to make a tent in your own home!

What You Need:chairs pillowsheets stuffed toysstring friendsclothes pins

What You Do:

1. Find a space in your home to make your tent. It could be in your bedroom, or even in the hallway.

2. Put the chairs in the space.

3. Put sheets over the chairs. Make sure that the sheets hang over the sides to make walls on your tent.

4. Use clothes pins or string to keep the sheets in place.

5. Think about where your door will be on your tent.

6. Put a pillow and some stuffed toys inside your tent.

7. Sit in your tent and think about your pretend camping trip.

8. Put other things you will need for you trip in your tent.

9. Ask a friend to come on your pretend trip with you.

10. Have lots of fun!
