Our keynote speaker, Professor Margaret Price, Professor Emerita of Assessment and Learning at Oxford Brookes University, will deliver a discussion on the nature of assessment literacy, how it might be developed, particularly among students, and how it has the potential to reshape our thinking about assessment and feedback as well as enhancing student learning.

Following on from the keynote there will be a series of workshops, a number of which will combine presentations from across Faculties and/or support departments/professional services and partner organisations with the aim of highlighting excellence in assessment across the University.

Search for Learning and Teaching Conference on the corporate website.

We look forward to seeing you at the Conference!

Margaret Price is Professor Emerita of Assessment and Learning at Oxford Brookes University UK.

She is a researcher with strong roots in the practice of teaching and assessment. She was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2002 in recognition of her excellence in teaching and contribution to the development of learning, teaching and assessment in Higher Education. From 2005 – 2016 she was Director of ASKe Pedagogy Research Centre, a centre for excellence in learning and teaching.

Her work focuses on the nature of assessment standards and student engagement with assessment feedback. These are brought together in the concept of assessment literacy and how this can support the learning of all students. Margaret has been involved in wide range of research and development of practice projects at an institutional, national and international level to encourage innovation and foster evidence-based assessment practice within the HE sector. Currently she is working on projects concerned with use of academic standards used by external examiners.
