Learner-Generated Contexts

Definition;

A context created by people interacting together with a common, self-defined or negotiated learning goal.

The key aspect of Learner Generated Contexts is that they are generated through the enterprise of those who would previously have been consumers in a context created for them. (Wikipedia)

Origins;

A Team who built a Facebook for earning in 2004 (before social network) Socially Inclusive; Community Development Model of Learning (Freire)

Participant Design; Ecology of Resources Model of Learner (Vygotsky)

Consequences of Filters;

1) A Co-creation Pedagogy of Learning

2) An interactive model of institutions

Limited by;

Cognitive Schemas (Habermas)

Changed by;

Participative Delivery of Outcomes

PAH Continuum Needs Teaching as Brokering (Craft)

Education Professionals as Learning Brokers;

a) writes the syllabus & develops the learning process,

b) enables learners to follow the motivation of 'interests’

c) supports & facilitates collaborative learning

d) allows creative assessments to be developed

2007 LSDA Innovation in Learning Project interviewed Star Award winners to identify their qualities, After 3/5 years they;

a) understand their subject for teaching (Pedagogy)

b) understand learning management (Andragogy)

c) turn power over to the learners (Heutagogy)

Adaptive Institutions working across Collaborative Networks’

Not unlike the Occupations

Needs a ‘Dialogic’ Method of Organisation

Needs Users to run MIS Systems

Needs DSS to co-manage institutions

Developing an Architecture of Participation

Using e-maturity frameworks as a developmental tool will enable institutions to improve their flexibility (EMFFE)

Develop knowledge networks and organisational strategies

Introduce enhanced public value measures of outcomes, services, transparency, trust, networks and negotiated collaborative outcomes

Use these elements to introduce co-creation & co-design of learning

Develop self-assessment and self-review strategies

as part of e-mature collaborative networks educational institutions will be able to influence the policy landscape

“adaptive institutions working across collaborative networks”

Why does this matter?

1) Social Justice

2) Change Socio-Economic Context

Evolving changes in the socio-technical context
