Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports

• Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports is one of the largest projects in the Gallatin County. On the average we have more than 150 4-H youth enrolled in shooting sports on a yearly basis. The program offers the following disciplines for the members to participate in: Air Rifle, Air Pistol, Smallbore Rifle, Smallbore Pistol, Archery, Shotgun, Muzzle-loading, Hunting & Wildlife, and Western Heritage. These projects are run by highly trained and certified adult volunteers to provide the best possible opportunity to experience high quality instruction. The 4-H youth are associated with caring adults and fellow shooters to learn the safe and ethical use of archery equipment and firearms. To be able to provide the fantastic experiences in Positive Youth Development available in 4-H Shooting Sports, there are many needs that must be met. It continues to get more expensive to find places to meet, maintain equipment, and of purchasing of new and improved supplies. That is the reason why this fundraiser is so vital to our success. On behalf of Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports, thank you for considering supporting our program. We could not do the positive things that we do for 4-H youth without the support of the community.

4-H Shooters,

The cost of our shooting sports program has drastically increased. We are making every effort to keep the cost of participating as reasonable as possible. To help offset our constantly rising costs, we need to fundraise. We would like to have fun with this. So, we are excited to have our first fundraiser, a Shoot-A-Thon.

Our goal is to have every shooter raise a minimum of $200. There will prizes – 1st Place - $100.00, 2nd Place - $75.00, and 3rd Place - $50.00 for those who raise the most money. Here’s how this works. We ask that you visit or call your friends, family, and neighbors and ask if they would like to sponsor you for this shoot-a-thon. At that time, you will fill out the information on the pledge sheet. Fill up as many as sheets as you can. Please present yourself in a very professional manner. Be polite and enthusiastic. After all, you are representing yourself as well as Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports.

This fundraiser will take place during the month of February. The actual shoot-a-thon will take place when you shoot during the week of February 14th. There are two ways that they can sponsor. One is a flat rate. The other type of sponsorship where the sponsor pledges a certain amount per point for the score that you get that week. For example, $.03 x 200 points = $6.00 or $.05 x 250 points = $12.50. We encourage people to pay with checks. Please have them make check payable to; Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports. If sponsors give a flat rate, please collect the money at that time so you do not need to go back. After you shoot and know your score, please go back to sponsor, and collect the money from them. Do this as soon as possible after you shoot. You are provided with some thank you notes. Please make sure to sign them and give them to your sponsors. Place a check mark in the thank you column on your pledge sheet when you deliver the thank you note.

ALL MONEY AND PLEDGE SHEETS MUST TO BE TURNED INTO YOUR SHOOTING SPORTS LEADER BY SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2021 AT THE LATEST.

If there are any questions, please contact me at 581-6845.

Thank you and good luck.

Scott Francis
