CEASA NEWSLETTER - OCTOBER Leading Learning Growing Message from the CEASA President… Term Four is up and running! This will be an important term for both CEASA and our associations as we begin to review our 2017 actions and reframe and look forward to 2018. At CEASA we are reviewing and celebrating our successes and looking to build on our opportunities. We are also looking forward to doing some ‘future-thinking’ with our CEASA Councillors at our November Council meeting as we collaboratively explore how we can adapt and change to become even more agile at meeting the needs of our members. Remember as Winston Churchill said, “They who fail to plan are planning to fail!”. It is also a time for a new chapter in CEASA’s journey as we farewell our Executive Director, Simon Fitzpatrick. Simon has done an outstanding job for and with CEASA in the last two and half years as he has brought his own brand of wisdom, passion and energy to the role. He leaves us in a strong position to continue to grow and build on his legacy. Simon’s not “big” on farewells so we are respecting his request, but hope that you will be able to catch him personally in the coming week to thank him for all that he has done. We wish him all the best on this new adventure. We look forward to seeing as many as you as possible at next week’s World Teachers Day event! Kind Regards Lisa-Jane Grab the Date! Message from the CEASA President…

Term Four is up and running!

Kind Regards Lisa-Jane

Farewell and thanks!

It’s with regret that I’ve decided to retire – very mixed feelings! It’s that time of life where family ‘calls’ are strong and I feel I have to give this priority.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me over the past couple of years especially our President, Lisa-Jane O’Connor, the CEASA staff, Sarah Warner and Jessica Green and our fabulous Board.

I would also like to specifically thank the Association ‘community’ and the members of it that who have helped and supported me both in the small and the big – my connections to you and the relationships here have been a highlight of the role.

Jason Ohler postponed……..

Unfortunately, we are having to postpone Dr Jason Ohler’s session with CEASA on Sat 4th November. Jason has been suffering from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and last year had a double lung transplant. This had been going very well and Jason was in excellent health. But in the last week unexpectedly, he has experienced problems with the transplant and his doctor has advised him that he was unable to travel in the short term. Jason is still keen to come to Australia in 2018 and given his great knowledge and educational insight, we are keen to have him here.

We would hope to let you know about the new date early in 2018.

Just a note. Every year 2300 Australians are newly diagnosed with IPF. If you are interested and would like more information on IPF or would like to support research into this disease go to the Lung Foundation website at https://lungfoundation.com.au

CREDIT UNION SA.

CEASA would like to acknowledge the continued support of Credit UnionSA over 2017.

Most importantly Credit UnionSA’s support of the work around early career teachers and World Teachers Day has been outstanding.

Thanks to Debbie, Sally, James and Phil.

I CHOOSE SA.

CEASA has joined ‘I Choose SA’ as a South Australian enterprise.

It is useful to think about how locally ‘produced’ education is as good as anywhere. This raises Associations’ profile as SA based organizations in the business of education. Check out the SA Business Directory for South Australian businesses.
